Job Description: Senior Merchant
Location: Noida,
Brand: Casa Decor
Experience: 4-8 years (Only from Export Handicraft industry with experience in Hardgoods – wood, marble and metal home décor items)
Working Days: Six days a week
Shift: 10:00 am to 06:00 pm
Job Overview:
The Senior Merchant will oversee the end-to-end process of sampling, resourcing, and buyer management for new product development. This role requires proactive coordination with designers, vendors, and buyers to ensure timely delivery of high-quality samples, efficient negotiation, and comprehensive follow-up. The Senior Merchant will also be responsible for maintaining meticulous records, managing ERP-related tasks, and ensuring quality checks and shipping logistics are executed seamlessly.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sampling and Resourcing:
- Develop and research new products, coordinating with designers for CADs.
- Follow up with vendors to ensure timely delivery of samples.
- Send proposals to buyers for developed samples and submit feedback to TL and Management.
- Buyer Approach:
- Approach buyers for meetings and conduct physical meetings and negotiations.
- Share detailed sheets with buyers and ensure negotiation within 24 hours.
- Send final samples for buyer review and oversee order development.
- Send a minimum of 10-15 emails per month to buyers for new product offers and prepare detailed feedback reports for TL and Management.
- Complete all Green Seal and PPM requirements at buyer offices with the team to address product challenges.
- ERP Management:
- Manage all PO-related work from initiation to completion, ensuring work is done by team merchants.
- Submit ERP reports, including cost and P/L sheets, to TL and Management after each PO dispatch.
- Record Keeping:
- Prepare TIP files within 5 days of receiving a PO and submit signed PO TIP files to TL after cross-checking checklists.
- Vendor Management:
- Share POs with vendors, ensuring 100% accuracy in details such as Green Seal and branding.
- Share internal PPM notes with vendors along with PO copies and obtain signed copies for records.
- Follow up with vendors twice daily via group and call to stay updated on PO and goods status, keeping Factor Managers informed.
- Buyer Management:
- Provide shipment status and planning updates twice a week (Tuesday and Friday) to concerned merchants.
- Follow up daily with buying agencies on pending matters via email and phone.
- Quality Check:
- Share quality check points with vendors and factory supervisors when placing orders and maintain signed records for each SKU.
- Submit inspection planning to TL and QC team at least 7 days before the start date of each PO.
- Provide weekly PRIF for the following week every Wednesday to ensure PO inclusion in inspection planning.
- Shipping:
- Finalize packing lists for each PO with accurate CBM details within 7 days of receiving the PO to facilitate timely booking and planning.
- Update the shipping team, packing supervisor, vendor, and all concerned parties on amendments or cancellations on the same day.
- Reporting:
- Share daily work reports with management and HR, including PO status and next day planning.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in merchandising, product development, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of ERP systems and PO management.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with vendor management and quality control processes.
- Proficiency in MS Office and relevant software tools.
Additional Requirements
- Prior experience working with TJX or other off-price/discounter retail customers will be preferred.
