About the Role
We are seeking a proactive and experienced Assistant Manager – Supply Chain Management (SCM) to manage procurement and supply chain operations, ensuring the timely availability of materials while maintaining cost efficiency and compliance with company procedures. The role involves handling both local and import procurement, vendor management, logistics coordination, customs documentation, and close collaboration with internal departments to support seamless business operations.
The ideal candidate should possess strong procurement expertise, excellent negotiation and coordination skills, and hands-on experience in import purchasing and supply chain management.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and execute procurement activities based on business and operational requirements.
- Coordinate with internal departments to understand material requirements and ensure timely procurement.
- Source, evaluate, and develop reliable vendors for both local and international procurement.
- Invite quotations, prepare comparative statements, negotiate commercial terms, and finalize purchase orders.
- Manage the complete procurement cycle from purchase planning to supplier delivery.
- Handle import procurement by coordinating with overseas suppliers, freight forwarders, and Customs House Agents (CHA).
- Monitor import documentation, shipment schedules, customs clearance, and delivery timelines.
- Coordinate transportation and logistics to ensure smooth movement of materials.
- Work closely with warehouse and stores teams to ensure timely receipt of materials and proper documentation.
- Coordinate with the Finance team for invoice verification, payment processing, and reconciliation.
- Monitor vendor performance and maintain strong supplier relationships to improve service quality and procurement efficiency.
- Prepare procurement reports, monitor pending purchase orders, and track delivery performance.
- Ensure adherence to company procurement policies, quality standards, and compliance requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Commerce, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- Professional certification in Supply Chain Management or Procurement will be an added advantage.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Import Procurement is mandatory.
- Proven experience in handling both local and import procurement.
- Experience coordinating with freight forwarders, shipping agencies, and Customs House Agents (CHA) is preferred.
- Exposure to inventory planning and warehouse coordination will be an advantage.
