The General Manager – SMS will spearhead complete operations, technology, maintenance, and output targets for the Steel Melting Shop. Reporting directly to the Executive Director / Plant Head, this role requires a seasoned metallurgical leader to drive liquid steel production efficiency, cost optimization, safety protocols, and continuous casting machine (CCM) throughput.
15–22 years of hands-on experience in integrated steel plants or standalone steel manufacturing facilities, with at least 3-5 years in a senior leadership role (AGM/DGM/GM)
Proven track record of managing large workforce teams (200+ employees and contract manpower).
B.E. / B.Tech in Metallurgy or Mechanical Engineering (M.Tech preferred)
- Plan and execute daily, monthly, and annual production schedules for Sub Merged Arc Furnaces / Induction Furnaces (IF), Ladle Refining Furnaces (LRF), and Continuous Casting Machines (CCM) to meet target volumes and chemistry specifications.
- Maintain strict control over steel chemistry, liquid steel yield, power consumption per ton, flux consumption, and refractories life to minimize conversion costs.
- Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and automation teams to implement robust preventive/predictive maintenance schedules, minimizing unplanned downtime.
- Lead zero-harm workplace initiatives, enforcing strict PPE compliance, slag handling protocols, and statutory environmental standard operations (ETP/APCD).
- Oversee OPEX/CAPEX budgets for the SMS division, driving continuous improvement projects (Kaizen, 6 Sigma, TPM).
Pay: ₹150,000.00 - ₹200,000.00 per month
