Job purpose
The Senior Application Architect will support application architecture assessment, migration planning,
operational readiness, and transformation initiatives associated with enterprise application modernization and
migration programs. The role will work closely with application, infrastructure, security, middleware, data,
reporting, and operations teams to support current-state assessment, target-state alignment, dependency
management, integration planning, operational stabilization, and implementation oversight across enterprise
application environments.
The role is expected to provide both strategic architecture guidance and hands-on technical expertise across
enterprise application landscapes, service-oriented and event-driven architectures, middleware environments, reporting platforms, integration frameworks, database ecosystems, deployment models, resiliency considerations, and operational support requirements to ensure application dependencies, integration touchpoints, and implementation activities are aligned with agreed project timelines, operational objectives, and governance requirements.
Key responsibilities
- Lead application architecture assessment, modernization planning, and target-state architecture alignment
activities across enterprise application ecosystems and distributed platform environments.
- Analyze current-state application architecture, integration dependencies, middleware interactions, batch
processing flows, reporting platforms, deployment models, operational dependencies, database ecosystems,
and resiliency considerations to support migration and modernization planning activities.
- Define and support future-state application architecture aligned to cloud-agnostic modernization principles,
containerized deployment models, microservices-based architecture, event-driven integration patterns, API
led connectivity, resiliency standards, scalability requirements, and operational supportability objectives.
- Provide architecture guidance and hands-on technical support for modernization initiatives involving
Microsoft .NET technologies, REST APIs, middleware platforms, event streaming frameworks, container
orchestration platforms, enterprise databases, reporting systems, and enterprise integration platforms.
- Support design and implementation planning for cloud-enabled and cloud-agnostic platforms leveraging
technologies such as Microsoft Azure, Kubernetes, Docker, Kafka, API gateways, CI/CD pipelines, PostgreSQL,
MSSQL, and enterprise integration frameworks.
- Coordinate with infrastructure, security, application development, DevOps, middleware, database, reporting,
and operations teams to manage architecture dependencies, deployment considerations, environment
readiness, and operational alignment activities.
- Support application migration planning including deployment sequencing, dependency mapping, rollback
planning, database transition considerations, integration validation, operational readiness coordination, and
implementation governance activities.
- Participate in technical troubleshooting, root cause analysis, operational stabilization, deployment validation,
database connectivity troubleshooting, and migration-related issue resolution discussions during
implementation and cutover activities.
- Support architecture governance processes including technical review boards, implementation
walkthroughs, migration readiness reviews, environment validation discussions, and operational transition
checkpoints.
- Contribute to enterprise modernization initiatives involving microservices transformation, API
modernization, event-driven integration adoption, infrastructure decoupling, containerization strategy, cloud
enablement, database modernization, and platform standardization initiatives.
- Support architecture documentation activities including current-state architecture diagrams, future-state
blueprints, integration documentation, deployment architecture views, resiliency models, operational
procedures, migration runbooks, database architecture considerations, and governance artifacts.
- Provide implementation oversight and technical coordination support during cutover, stabilization, and
hypercare phases to ensure alignment between application, infrastructure, middleware, database, and
operational support teams.
Key competencies
- Strong enterprise application architecture expertise across distributed systems, multi-tier enterprise
applications, service-oriented architecture, and cloud-enabled application ecosystems.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft .NET technologies, RESTful services, enterprise APIs, middleware
integration platforms, and enterprise application modernization initiatives.
- Strong understanding of cloud-native and cloud-agnostic architecture principles including containerization,
orchestration, scalability, resiliency, and platform portability considerations.
- Experience with Microsoft Azure services including Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Azure networking
concepts, cloud infrastructure integration, and hybrid cloud deployment models.
- Expertise in Kubernetes, Docker, container orchestration platforms, and enterprise containerized application
deployment frameworks.
- Strong understanding of event-driven architecture patterns, asynchronous processing models, Kafka-based
event streaming, messaging systems, enterprise integration frameworks, and middleware orchestration
concepts.
- Experience with API-led integration architecture, API gateway platforms, microservices communication
patterns, interface management, and enterprise integration governance.
- Strong knowledge of MSSQL, PostgreSQL, database architecture principles, database integration patterns,
operational data management, and enterprise reporting ecosystems.
- Strong understanding of CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, release orchestration, deployment automation
concepts, and operational transition frameworks.
- Knowledge of application resiliency models, disaster recovery concepts, failover mechanisms, high
availability architecture, and operational continuity planning.
- Ability to support technical troubleshooting, architecture governance, deployment coordination, operational
stabilization, database transition support, and migration execution support activities within complex
enterprise environments.
- Strong stakeholder management, cross-functional coordination, governance support, dependency
management, and technical communication capabilities.
- Experience supporting enterprise transformation programs involving modernization, cloud enablement,
operational optimization, infrastructure decoupling, database modernization, and platform standardization
initiatives.
