We are looking for a skilled Shopify Liquid Developer with strong experience in Shopify theme development and exposure to headless commerce architecture. The ideal candidate should be capable of building, customizing, and optimizing Shopify storefronts using Liquid, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Shopify Online Store 2.0, and Shopify APIs.
This role will involve working closely with frontend developers, designers, SEO teams, and ecommerce stakeholders to deliver high-performance, scalable, and conversion-focused Shopify experiences. The candidate should also be comfortable supporting headless Shopify projects using Shopify Storefront API, GraphQL, React, Next.js, Hydrogen, or Remix.
Roles and ResponsibilitiesShopify Theme & Liquid Development
- Develop, customize, and maintain Shopify themes using Liquid, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, JSON, and AJAX.
- Build and manage custom Shopify sections, blocks, snippets, templates, product pages, collection pages, cart pages, and landing pages.
- Work with Shopify Online Store 2.0 architecture, including JSON templates, dynamic sections, metafields, and metaobjects.
- Convert Figma, Adobe XD, or design mockups into responsive, pixel-perfect Shopify storefront pages.
- Ensure all storefront pages are responsive, user-friendly, brand-consistent, and optimized for performance.
Headless Shopify Support
- Support headless Shopify storefront development using Shopify Storefront API and GraphQL.
- Collaborate with frontend developers working on React.js, Next.js, Hydrogen, or Remix based storefronts.
- Assist in connecting Shopify backend data such as products, collections, variants, metafields, and customer data with headless frontend applications.
- Support implementation of product listing pages, product detail pages, cart flow, search, filters, and checkout-related experiences.
- Ensure smooth communication between Shopify backend, APIs, and frontend systems.
Shopify APIs & Integrations
- Work with Shopify Admin API, Storefront API, GraphQL, REST APIs, and webhooks.
- Integrate and configure third-party Shopify apps for reviews, subscriptions, analytics, email marketing, payments, and automation.
- Customize app integrations and troubleshoot compatibility issues within Shopify themes and storefronts.
- Support integrations with CMS, CRM, ERP, payment gateways, and marketing tools where required.
Performance, SEO & CRO
- Optimize Shopify storefronts for page speed, Core Web Vitals, mobile performance, and overall user experience.
- Implement SEO best practices including meta tags, schema markup, structured data, clean URL structure, and optimized page templates.
- Support CRO initiatives by implementing improvements on product pages, landing pages, cart flow, and checkout-related touchpoints.
- Assist in implementing A/B test variations, tracking scripts, GA4/GTM tags, and other analytics-related updates.
Maintenance, Testing & Collaboration
- Debug and resolve Shopify theme, Liquid, app, API, and frontend issues.
- Maintain clean, reusable, and well-documented code.
- Test storefront functionality across desktop, tablet, and mobile devices.
- Work closely with UI/UX designers, frontend developers, QA, SEO, marketing, and project management teams.
- Follow Shopify development standards, version control practices, and deployment workflows.
Required Skills
- Strong hands-on experience in Shopify Liquid development.
- Good knowledge of Shopify Online Store 2.0, sections, blocks, snippets, templates, metafields, and metaobjects.
- Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery, JSON, AJAX, and responsive web development.
- Experience with Shopify Storefront API, Admin API, GraphQL, REST APIs, and webhooks.
- Understanding of headless Shopify architecture and how Shopify backend connects with custom frontend applications.
- Familiarity with React.js, Next.js, Hydrogen, or Remix is preferred.
- Experience with Shopify app integrations and third-party ecommerce tools.
- Strong understanding of SEO, CRO, Core Web Vitals, and performance optimization.
- Experience with Git, GitHub/GitLab, Shopify CLI, and theme deployment workflows.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with Shopify Plus.
- Knowledge of Checkout UI Extensions and Shopify Functions.
- Experience with subscription apps, review apps, Klaviyo, GA4, GTM, Hotjar, or similar tools.
- Knowledge of Shopify Markets, multi-language, and multi-currency setup.
- Experience working with CMS platforms such as Sanity, Contentful, or Strapi.
- Basic backend knowledge in Node.js will be an added advantage.
Experience Required
- 4+ years of ecommerce or frontend development experience.
- 3+ years of hands-on Shopify Liquid development experience.
- Exposure to headless Shopify projects is preferred.
