Job Title : Microbiology Technician

Experience

3–5 years of relevant experience in a diagnostic laboratory, hospital, or clinical microbiology laboratory.

Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Microbiology Technician to perform microbiological testing, sample processing, culture and sensitivity, and routine laboratory procedures. The candidate should have strong hands-on experience in clinical microbiology, quality control, documentation, and laboratory safety.

Key Responsibilities

Process clinical samples such as blood, urine, sputum, swabs, stool, and body fluids.
Perform sample processing, inoculation, culture, sub-culture, and smear preparation.
Perform Gram staining and other routine microbiological staining techniques.
Conduct culture and sensitivity / antimicrobial susceptibility testing (AST).
Identify and differentiate common bacterial and fungal organisms.
Prepare and maintain culture media, reagents, and stains.
Operate microbiology equipment such as incubators, autoclaves, microscopes, biosafety cabinets, and automated analyzers.
Handle and maintain VITEK, BacT/ALERT, or similar automated microbiology systems, if applicable.
Monitor culture growth and accurately record test observations and results.
Perform IQC and participate in EQAS activities.
Maintain accurate laboratory records, registers, QC logs, and documentation.
Enter and verify results in the LIS.
Follow SOPs, biosafety, infection-control, and biomedical waste management procedures.
Ensure proper sample identification, storage, and disposal.
Monitor inventory of reagents, media, and consumables.
Perform routine equipment maintenance and report breakdowns promptly.
Support NABL / ISO 15189 quality requirements and laboratory audits.
Coordinate with Microbiologists, Pathologists, and other laboratory staff for timely processing and reporting.

Qualification

B.Sc. Microbiology / B.Sc. MLT / BMLT / DMLT
M.Sc. Microbiology candidates with relevant laboratory experience may also be considered.

Ability to work independently and as part of a laboratory team

Preferred Profile

Candidates currently working as Microbiology Technician, Senior Microbiology Technician, Microbiology Lab Technician, or Clinical Microbiology Technician in diagnostic labs or hospitals are preferred.
