Role Clarity Document: Interior Designer (Corporate Workspaces)

Experience Required: Minimum 2 years in designing offices and workspaces.

Role Definition

The Interior Designer is the central creative and functional owner of a workspace project. This individual is responsible for deeply understanding the client’s NDPs (Needs, Desires, and Problems) and translating them into comprehensive design proposals, concepts, and Good for Construction (GFC) drawings. Beyond desk design, this role requires active market exploration, site interventions to solve execution challenges, rigorous project documentation, and ensuring strict adherence to the company's Process, System, and Structure (PSS).

Responsibility Deliverables

End-to-End Design: Delivering complete design proposals, concepts, mood boards, and GFC drawings based on accurate space planning for corporate workspaces.
Project Handover & Execution Support: Providing a complete download of designs to project and purchase teams, and actively solving on-site or supply chain design challenges.
Rigorous Documentation: Maintaining centralized project data, including detailed minutes for all client, internal, and purchase meetings.

Tasks & Activities

1. Design & Conceptualization

Capturing complete NDBD (Needs, Desires, and Problems) from the client or senior designers.
Creating highly efficient space planning and space management layouts tailored specifically for corporate workspaces.
Developing comprehensive design proposals and conceptual presentations.
Curating detailed material lists and mood boards for each project.

2. Technical Detailing & Handover

Drafting precise Good for Construction (GFC) drawings using AutoCAD.
Conducting formal "downloads" (handovers) of the complete design package to the Project and Purchase teams to ensure seamless execution.

3. Execution Support & Problem Solving

Traveling to local markets and visiting suppliers to find exact material solutions for specific projects.
Visiting project sites regularly to monitor work progress.
Dynamically amending designs or engineering practical solutions on-site when execution challenges arise, ensuring the original design intent is maintained.

4. Documentation & PSS Compliance

Documenting and circulating comprehensive Minutes of Meeting (MoMs) for:
- Client meetings
- Internal project discussions
- Purchase and vendor meetings
Maintaining and updating the dedicated website/portal for each project to ensure all data is centralized.
Ensuring the entire design process complies with internal PSS (Process, System, and Structure) guidelines.

Measurement Metrics

Design Output: Number of Design Proposals made per month.
Conceptual Output: Number of Concepts delivered per month.
Technical Output: Number of GFC sets completed per month.
Completion Rate: Number of projects successfully completed per month.
Agility & Problem Solving: Average Turnaround Time (TAT) for resolving on-site execution challenges or finalizing supplier solutions.

Technical: Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD (Must-have).
Design: Expert in corporate workspace planning and space management.
Communication: Strong documentation skills (MoMs) and the ability to articulate design downloads to cross-functional teams (Purchase/Projects).
Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot on-site execution errors and amend GFCs on the fly.

Knowledge

Deep understanding of corporate office layouts, ergonomics, and material application.
Strong awareness of the local supplier market and material sourcing.
Understanding of PSS (Process, System, and Structure) workflows.

Role: Interior Designer

Role Definition: Interior Designer is the one who is responsible for understanding client’s requirement in designing a space and planning it in accordance with the functionality and aesthetics. Creative and smart enough to solve any design issues.

Responsibility Deliverable

Taking the brief from the client/senior and making initial layouts according to the brief given by the client/senior.
Presentations, Conceptualisations, Working Drawings & BOQs.
Handling client and execution teams once the project starts.

Tasks & Activities

1. Taking the brief from the client and making initial layouts according to the brief given by the client.

Understanding client NDPs (Needs, Desires & Problems)
Making Minutes of the meeting
Careful note on his/her objective
Making the layout with proper dimensions ensuring maximum space utilisation. Space planning and space management is the key.

2. Presentations, Conceptualisations, Working Drawings/GFCs.

Editing layout and other drawings in rendering software like Photoshop.
Conceptualisation of each area for finalising the design theme with the client.
Detailed drawings (GFC) related to the project i.e. architectural drawings, furniture drawings, RCP, Flooring, elevations, sections, etc.
Preparing Mood Board for all material selection, approvals, and procurement.
Keeping the interiors library well presented.

Preparing BOQ of all execution items with detailed and thorough specifications and quantities.

Handling client and execution teams once the project starts.

Ensuring the execution teams have understood the drawing and executing work as per drawings. Visiting site occasionally/weekly basis for this.
Dynamically incorporating on-site changes and client unavoidable changing aspirations.

· Coordination with Consultants, Project Team, and Client.

Working on 3d

3D Working using apt. software preferably SketchUp.
Good knowledge of 3d software’s preferably SketchUp.
Should know when to make blocks and components in SketchUp.
Texture editing for 3d renders.
Willingness to learn something new – VR
