Role Overview

We are looking for a City Manager to own the rooftop solar business end-to-end across the city. The role leads the city operations team—the Installation Manager, Liaisoning Manager, Warehouse Manager, and AMC Lead—and is accountable for the full order lifecycle from post-sales handover through site survey, material readiness, installation, commissioning, and lifetime service. The City Manager owns the city's installation throughput, TAT, cost and profitability, quality (first-time-right), and customer delight, while coordinating with Design, Customer Delight, and Purchase, and reporting progress to Central Ops.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the city operations team: Manage the Installation Manager, Liaisoning Manager, Warehouse Manager, and AMC Lead, and own overall city performance across installations, liaisoning, warehouse, and AMC.
Daily planning & targets: Run daily planning and standups with the functional managers, -setting daily targets, reviewing progress, and unblocking issues.
Own the end-to-end order lifecycle & TAT: Drive every order through its full journey—post-sales handover → site survey/BOQ → warehouse kitting → installation → commissioning & net metering → handover → AMC—and ensure completion within defined TATs.
Installation throughput & FTR: Through the Installation Manager, ensure crews are scheduled efficiently to hit the city's monthly installation target, balancing in-house and vendor teams, and drive first-time-right (FTR) execution to reduce rework and repeat visits.
Liaisoning, commissioning & cost: Through the Liaisoning Manager, ensure net-metering and DISCOM commissioning move within TAT and that liaisoning costs (meter charges, fees) stay within budget, with applications tracked to synchronisation and closure.
Warehouse & material flow: Through the Warehouse Manager, ensure first-, mid-, and last-mile material flow keeps every site supplied on schedule, inventory is accurate, and DCR/non-DCR lots are correctly segregated and traceable.
AMC & service: Through the AMC Lead, ensure preventive maintenance (panel cleaning, plant health checks) and corrective maintenance run on schedule, and that Customer Success tickets and complaints are resolved within TAT to maximise customer satisfaction.
BOM/BOQ review & margin control: Review the Solar Bill of Material (BOM/BOQ) for accuracy and completeness, and control material cost and BOQ overruns to protect project profitability.
Operations management: Manage the city's operations through dedicated software/Google/Excel sheets (Zoho Books, trackers) for live visibility across all functions.
Customer relationship & delight: Own the customer relationship for the city—providing support and information and answering queries politely to achieve customer delight.
Tracking, follow-up & reporting: Drive rigorous tracking and follow-up across all open projects, and report city progress and KPIs to Central Ops via Daily Progress Reports (DPRs).
KPI setting & adherence: Set KPIs for the city team and the functional managers and ensure adherence.
People – hiring, onboarding & development: Drive learning and development of the team, own installation crew (InC) onboarding and training, and interview Project Coordinators and crew on a need basis.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations, or a related field (Diploma with strong relevant experience considered)
6–10 years of experience in operations/project management, with experience leading multi-functional teams; rooftop solar or field-execution industry strongly preferred
Proven ability to own city-level operations and P&L across execution, liaisoning, logistics, and service
Strong understanding of the solar order lifecycle—site survey, BOM/BOQ, installation, net metering/commissioning, warehouse, and AMC
Excellent leadership, coordination, and stakeholder-management skills across internal teams and customers
Strong command of operations software and spreadsheets, with a data-driven, metrics-led approach (TAT, FTR, cost, customer satisfaction)
Ability to manage throughput, TAT, cost, and profitability simultaneously
Willingness to travel across sites within (and occasionally across) cities
Strong ownership, customer focus, and a problem-solving mindset

Pay: ₹1,000,000.00 - ₹2,000,000.00 per year
