G2 is seeking a curious, experiment-driven content specialist to join our AEO/SEO team. As an AEO/SEO Content Specialist, your core focus will be answer engine optimization experimentation: designing and running content experiments that grow G2's visibility and citations in AI answer engines like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity. You'll build new content formats around the questions software buyers ask LLMs, test structural and on-page changes, measure impact on AI citations and share of voice, and help scale what wins.
This role goes beyond writing for search engines. You'll combine strong content craft with an analytical, test-and-learn approach: forming hypotheses, producing content quickly, measuring its performance, and iterating based on data. The content you create should be genuinely useful and trustworthy to real buyers, reflecting G2's position as the world's leading software marketplace.
This position reports to an AEO/SEO Strategy Lead.
Run AEO experiments: Design, execute, and iterate on experiments that improve how AI answer engines discover, trust, and cite G2 content. Frame hypotheses, ship test content quickly, and let results decide the next move; speed-to-learning matters more here than polish-on-first-draft.
Build content for AI-driven discovery: Create net-new content formats designed around the queries buyers use in LLMs (comparison and use-case listicles, integration and automation formats, buyer guides) that are optimized to be parsed, trusted, and cited by AI answer engines.
Measure AI visibility relentlessly: Track experiment outcomes on AI visibility metrics (citations, share of voice, prompt-level performance via platforms like Profound) alongside classic SEO metrics (rankings, traffic via GA/GSC, Ahrefs), and use those signals to decide what to double down on.
Collaborate cross-functionally: Partner with technical SEO, market research, off-page, and product teams so that proven levers can compound.

2-4 years of experience in SEO content or B2B SaaS writing.
A working understanding of how AI answer engines and LLMs discover, evaluate, and cite content (AEO), plus a strong grasp of modern SEO principles (topical authority, E-E-A-T, content structure, refresh strategy).
An experimenter's mindset: comfortable forming hypotheses, shipping fast, and iterating with the ability to read performance data to tell the difference.
Hands-on fluency with LLMs (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, etc.) as part of your workflows; prompting, drafting, refining, and scaling with AI.
Experience with SEO research and analytics tools such as Ahrefs, SEMrush, GA, and GSC; comfort learning AI visibility platforms (e.g., Profound) and BI tools.
Exceptional writing and editing skills in American English, with the ability to adapt tone and structure to different formats and audiences.
Excellent project management and communication skills, with the ability to take an idea from brief to publication independently and manage tight, weekly-cadence deadlines.
Understanding of content management systems.
A portfolio demonstrating engaging, high-quality content that drove measurable results, ideally in the SaaS, IT, marketing, or tech spaces.
Direct experience running AEO experiments (e.g., testing content formats, on-page changes for AI citation impact, or programmatic SEO).
Familiarity with AI visibility or brand-monitoring platforms (Profound, Brand Radar, or similar).
Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or a related field.
Basic graphic design or HTML knowledge.
