Job Summary
harePoint Administrator — Level 3 Job Description Summary The Level 3 SharePoint Administrator is the senior technical authority for the organization\'s SharePoint environment across SharePoint Online (Microsoft 365) and on-premises/hybrid SharePoint Server. The role owns platform design, security, performance, and daily operation, resolves escalated incidents that lower tiers cannot, and mentors junior administrators — combining deep hands-on expertise with strong governance and automation skills. Key Responsibilities • Serve as the Tier 3 escalation point for all SharePoint incidents, diagnosing and resolving complex problems across SharePoint Online and SharePoint Server (on-premises/hybrid). • Architect, deploy, and maintain site collections, content types, managed metadata, search, and service applications per business and governance requirements. • Plan and execute migrations, upgrades, and patching, including on-premises-to-cloud and cross-tenant migrations with minimal disruption. • Design and enforce information architecture, governance, permissions models, and data-security/DLP controls; conduct periodic access and compliance reviews. • Automate provisioning, reporting, and routine administration using PowerShell (PnP), Power Automate, and the SharePoint REST/Graph APIs. • Monitor platform health and performance, maintain backup/DR procedures, and test recovery against defined RPO/RTO targets. • Document runbooks and knowledge-base articles, and mentor Level 1 and Level 2 administrators. Required Technical Skills • Expert-level administration of SharePoint Online and SharePoint Server, including topology, service applications, and hybrid configurations. • Strong PowerShell scripting, including the PnP module, for automation and bulk administration. • Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 administration — Entra ID (Azure AD), OneDrive, Teams, and the M365 admin center. • Solid grasp of SharePoint security, permissions, governance, and compliance (retention, DLP, sensitivity labels via Microsoft Purview). • Experience with SharePoint search, managed metadata, information architecture, and the Power Platform. • Understanding of supporting infrastructure (Windows Server, IIS, SQL Server, DNS, SSL/TLS) and migration tooling (e.g., ShareGate, Microsoft Migration Manager).
