Position Overview
Ekam-In is seeking a passionate, creative, and highly motivated English Language Arts (ELA) & Creative Writing Teacher to teach students from Grades 4–10. The ideal candidate will have a strong command of the English language, excellent teaching skills, and the ability to deliver engaging lessons aligned with both the Indian Curriculum (CBSE/ICSE) and the Common Core State Standards (CCSS).
This role requires an educator who can inspire students to become independent readers, critical thinkers, and expressive writers while creating a supportive and engaging learning environment.
Key Responsibilities - English Language Arts (ELA)
Plan and deliver engaging lessons in:
- Grammar & Language
- Reading & Comprehension
- Develop students' reading skills through fiction and informational texts
- Vocabulary Development
- Teach vocabulary through meaningful context
- Encourage students to use new vocabulary confidently in speaking and writing.
- Writing
- Teach and guide students through multiple writing genres
- Guide students through the complete writing process
- Develop students' imagination and storytelling skills through structured creative writing instruction.
Candidates should be able to teach and adapt lessons for:
Indian Curriculum
International Curriculum
- Common Core State Standards (CCSS)
Teachers should be able to differentiate instruction based on each student's curriculum, learning style, and academic goals.
Lesson Planning & Instruction
Teachers will be responsible for designing engaging lessons that include:

Lessons should be interactive, activity-based, and focused on application rather than rote learning.
Assessment & Progress Monitoring
Develop and administer:
- Diagnostic Assessments
- Grammar Quizzes
- Reading Comprehension Assessments
- Vocabulary Tests
- Writing Rubrics
- Creative Writing Projects
- Portfolio Assessments
Provide individualized, constructive feedback and maintain detailed progress records.
Parent Communication
- Share regular progress updates and learning goals.
- Discuss student strengths and areas for improvement.
- Recommend strategies for learning at home.
- Maintain professional and timely communication with parents.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in English, English Literature, Linguistics, Journalism, Education, or a related field.
- B.Ed. is preferred for candidates teaching the Indian curriculum.
- Excellent spoken and written English.
Preferred Experience
- Experience teaching English for CBSE and/or ICSE.
- Experience teaching Common Core State Standards (CCSS) English Language Arts.
- Experience teaching Creative Writing.
- Experience conducting online classes.
- Experience creating original curriculum, lesson plans, worksheets, and assessments.
- Experience preparing students for academic writing, competitions, and public speaking is an advantage.
