Full job description

We are looking for a motivated and target-oriented Business Development Executive (Upwork) to join our team in Shimla.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, generating qualified leads, communicating with prospective clients, preparing proposals, and converting opportunities into successful projects.

The role will primarily focus on Upwork and other online lead-generation channels, while also providing opportunities to work on email outreach, LinkedIn, and other business development activities.

You will work closely with technical and project teams to understand client requirements and offer suitable solutions across web development, mobile applications, eCommerce, SEO, digital marketing, AI, and custom software development.

Freshers with excellent communication skills and a willingness to learn are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

Identify relevant business opportunities and projects through Upwork and other freelance platforms.
Research client requirements, project scope, budget, and expectations before approaching prospects.
Prepare and submit personalized, professional, and convincing proposals.
Generate leads through Upwork, LinkedIn, email outreach, online portals, and other channels.
Communicate with prospective clients through chat, email, calls, and video meetings.
Understand client requirements and recommend appropriate IT solutions.
Prepare proposals, quotations, project estimates, and service presentations.
Coordinate with developers, designers, SEO specialists, and project managers to understand project requirements, timelines, and technical feasibility.
Follow up consistently with prospective clients and move qualified leads through the sales process.
Negotiate project scope, pricing, timelines, and terms with clients.
Assist in converting qualified opportunities into successful projects.
Maintain professional and long-term relationships with clients.
Maintain accurate records of leads, proposals, follow-ups, client communications, and conversions.
Monitor proposal performance, response rates, interviews, and project conversions.
Research competitors, market trends, and client requirements to improve lead-generation strategies.
Explore new business opportunities and online channels for generating IT leads.
Achieve monthly and quarterly business development and revenue targets.

Required Skills & Experience

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, IT, or any related field.
Freshers and candidates with up to 3 years of experience in Business Development, IT Sales, Lead Generation, or a similar role are welcome to apply.
Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
Strong interpersonal, presentation, convincing, and negotiation skills.
Basic understanding of IT services such as:
Website Development
Mobile App Development
eCommerce Development
SEO
Digital Marketing
UI/UX Design
Custom Software Development
Ability to understand client requirements and communicate them effectively with technical teams.
Good proposal-writing and follow-up skills.
Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
Ability to manage multiple leads and follow-ups simultaneously.
Self-motivated, target-oriented, and eager to learn.
Ability to work independently as well as within a team.

Good to Have

Hands-on experience with Upwork or other freelance platforms.
Experience with Freelancer, Guru, PeoplePerHour, LinkedIn, or similar platforms.
Knowledge of Upwork bidding, Connects, proposal strategies, and profile optimization.
Experience with email outreach or LinkedIn lead generation.
Familiarity with CRM tools and sales pipeline management.
Experience preparing technical proposals and project estimates.
Knowledge of international markets such as the US, UK, Canada, Australia, or Europe.
Basic understanding of web technologies and digital marketing.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and online collaboration tools.
Existing portfolio of successful proposals, client acquisitions, or business development work is an advantage.
