Duties and Responsibilities
The United Nations Information Centers (UNICs) is part of the Outreach Division of the Department of Global Communications. The UNICs are the principal sources of information about the United Nations system in the countries where they are located. They are also responsible for promoting greater public understanding of, and supports the aims and activities of, the United Nations by disseminating information on the work of the Organization to people everywhere, especially in developing countries. This internship is based at the United Nations Information Centre in New Delhi, India, one of 59 active UNICs worldwide. UNIC New Delhi undertakes a wide range of media, outreach and strategic communications activities. These include creating and publishing original multimedia content, conducting media outreach, engaging with government, universities, schools, civil society and the private sector, organising and participating in public events, maintaining digital information resources, and translating United Nations information materials into local languages. The internship is a continuous three-month assignment with no breaks. Subject to the needs of the Department and the availability and performance of the intern, it may be extended for up to a maximum of six months. The internship is UNPAID. UN interns work full-time, five days per week under the supervision of the National Information Officer. Interns are expected to perform the following duties: - assist in media monitoring. - assist in preparing communications materials, including public events, web articles, social media posts, and media relations. - assist in the creation of public information content for web, social media, media outlets and other key audiences, aligned with UN International Days, flagship reports and country priorities - assist in organizing, selecting, and use film/video footage for social media and feature stories. - conduct research for various UN events and campaigns. Support the implementation of UN campaigns and events. - provide organizing and logistical support for UNIC events and activities. - draft content for the website and social media platforms. - carry out other tasks as requested.
Qualifications/special skills
Please note that to qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, applicants must meet one of the following requirements: a. Be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or, b. Be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent) Applicants must also: -Be computer literate in standard software applications. -Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the UN Charter. -Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views. “No working experience is required to apply for the United Nations Internship Programme. Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this internship, fluency in English is required.

Costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation and living expenses are the responsibility of interns or their sponsoring institutions.
