Job Description
As a T1 Technical Architect – OpenText, you will be our hands-on specialist for B2B/EDI integration. Reporting to the P1 Technical Architect Manager, you will work closely with senior T2 architects to design, build, test, and maintain our global business-to-business electronic data interchanges. Using the OpenText suite, you will connect our internal enterprise applications (like SAP S/4HANA) with our global retail customers, distributors, and logistics partners, ensuring seamless and automated transaction flows.
- Quality: You will build and test precise EDI maps and translation schemas (ANSI X12, EDIFACT) that protect the integrity of our transaction data. Your extreme attention to detail ensures that millions of dollars in customer orders and shipment notices route cleanly without data corruption or drops.
Responsibility: You will own the day-to-day stability and health of our OpenText integration lines. When automated customer orders or shipping notifications hit technical bottlenecks, you take immediate personal ownership to investigate, patch, and restore standard transaction flows.
Mutuality: In a CPG business, our success is entirely linked to the success of our retail partners, distributors, and 3PL vendors. You will design and deploy clear, reliable, and standardized B2B interfaces that make doing business with us simple, painless, and mutually beneficial for our partners.
Efficiency: You will combat operational waste by building highly automated, reusable mapping templates and streamlining our partner onboarding workflows. By reducing manual interventions in our order-to-cash cycle, you help the business fulfill customer demands with maximum speed and minimum cost.
Freedom: We support your professional growth and technical curiosity. Guided by our long-term generational mindset, you are encouraged to propose innovative, modern hybrid integration approaches (such as combining traditional EDI with real-time API integrations) and explore advanced OpenText platform capabilities.

- Develop, test, and deploy end-to-end EDI maps, translation rules, and workflows using OpenText translation tools (e.g., OpenText Trading Grid, BizManager, or Liaison Athena/Delta).
- Configure standard transport protocols including AS2, SFTP, FTPS, and HTTPS to establish secure communication pipelines with external commercial partners.
- Translate incoming and outgoing messages across various syntax standards (such as ANSI X12, EDIFACT, XML, JSON, and flat files) to facilitate seamless data exchange.
- Build and maintain standard integration points with internal ERP systems—specifically SAP S/4HANA—using IDocs, RFCs, and API endpoints.
- Execute the technical onboarding process for new retail customers, distributors, suppliers, and third-party logistics (3PL) providers.
- Conduct joint end-to-end testing with external business partners' technical teams to validate shipping, invoicing, ordering, and inventory data flows.
- Ensure all new B2B connections adhere strictly to GS1 global supply chain standards and internal corporate security guidelines.
- Monitor the health of the OpenText environment, tracking message delivery statuses, processing backlogs, and transmission errors.
- Provide rapid Level 2/3 technical support for EDI processing issues, failed maps, certificate expirations, and transmission dropouts.
- Perform root-cause analysis (RCA) on persistent technical transaction failures and implement permanent structural fixes to prevent recurrence.
- Help maintain detailed documentation for all partner profiles, mapping specifications, and transport configurations.
- Work under the mentorship of T2 Technical Architects to align OpenText designs with the wider Global Integration Hub architecture (Azure IS, SAP BTP IS, Solace, MuleSoft).
- Identify opportunities to retire legacy mapping techniques and migrate older point-to-point connections to modern, cloud-managed OpenText formats.
- Assist in platform maintenance, coordinate software patch testing, and manage digital certificate renewals for secure connections.
- OpenText Focus: hands-on experience designing, developing, and managing B2B/EDI integrations using OpenText solutions (e.g., OpenText Trading Grid, BizManager, Application Integrator, Liaison platforms, or Enterprise Connect).
- EDI Standards: Deep understanding of EDI standards, specifically ANSI X12 (e.g., 850, 855, 856, 810) and EDIFACT (e.g., ORDERS, ORDRSP, DESADV, INVOIC).
- Communication Protocols: Solid experience configuring and debugging AS2, SFTP, and API-based B2B transport paths.
- SAP Integration: Basic to intermediate knowledge of SAP integration mechanics, including IDoc processing, partner profiles, and RFC connections.
- CPG/FMCG Familiarity: Experience working within a fast-moving consumer goods, retail, or logistics-heavy business environment.
- Supply Chain Processes: Good understanding of standard physical supply chain movements, primarily Order-to-Cash (O2C), Procure-to-Pay (P2P), and warehouse operations (3PL integrations).
- Problem-Solving: Analytical mindset with a systematic, calm approach to diagnosing system errors and data mismatches.
- Collaboration & Communication: Excellent verbal and written skills, with the ability to coordinate technical requirements smoothly with external partner IT squads.
- Growth Mindset: Strong willingness to learn, adapt to new cloud-based integration trends, and expand skills into adjacent integration technologies (like Azure or SAP BTP).
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Information Systems, or equivalent practical work experience.
- Certifications in OpenText platforms or general B2B/EDI management are highly regarded.
