Full job description

The Head of MEP Engineering and Design Services – India will play a strategic and hands-on leadership role in establishing and scaling the Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing (MEP) Engineering and Design Services discipline within the Design Services Business Unit in India. The MEP head will lead a team that is expected to grow to 100+ members as the organization expands in the next 5 years. This leader will act as the primary bridge between India-based MEP teams and U.S. design, construction, and engineering stakeholders, enabling seamless collaboration and integrated project delivery across geographies.

Key Responsibilities

Get Work – Business & Strategic Leadership

Develop and execute the strategic roadmap for MEP Engineering & Detailing Services in India aligned with DPR’s global objectives.
Drive growth and scaling of India’s MEP engineering and detailing capabilities.
Support business development efforts by offering technical leadership and client engagement as needed.
Build strong relationships with DPR’s U.S. leadership, project teams and FOC teams.
Establish KPIs for efficiency, quality, and client satisfaction. And detailing

Do Work – Technical & Operational Excellence

Drive end-to-end project execution, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality expectations.
Collaborate closely with the global Design Services Team to ensure seamless integration of engineering and detailing functions.
Implement and optimize workflows, tools, and processes to support efficient operations and cross-team alignment globally.
Monitor performance metrics, resource utilization, and capacity planning to ensure sustainable team growth.
Ensure adherence to U.S. design standards and building codes.

Take Care of People – Leadership & Talent Development

Work with recruiters to develop roles for hiring.
Interview, hire and onboard new hires.
Lead and mentor MEP team, practicing in and fostering a culture of shared leadership
Create clear career pathways and professional development plans.
Conduct performance evaluations, provide coaching, and make recommendations for promotions and compensation.
Build high-performing teams and foster a culture of collaboration, trust, and continuous improvement.
Partner with local leadership on hiring, team building, and succession planning for long-term sustainability.
Promote diversity, inclusion, and innovation within the architecture practice.
Develop leadership pipelines and succession plans for key roles.
Organize knowledge-sharing sessions and technical workshops to enhance team competency.

Qualifications & Experience

Master’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering from an accredited university.
PE (Professional Engineer) License from the U.S preferred.
Minimum 18 years of total experience in mechanical or electrical engineering, with at least 5+ years in a senior leadership role.
Work experience across both U.S. and Indian engineering environments, with a deep understanding of cross-border collaboration.
Proven experience in scaling engineering operations or setting up offshore capabilities.
Exposure to MEP detailing and fabrication processes and their integration with Structural and Architectural workflows
Experience working in global engineering services or consulting organizations.
Experience leading and managing and making decisions amongst a group of peers.
Comprehensive expertise in the integration of Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, IT infrastructure and other critical integral systems specifically tailored to Adv Tech and Manufacturing projects is preferred
Familiarity with local, national and international codes and standards governing MEP systems design.
Strong problem-solving abilities and analytical skills to identify and solve engineering challenges with teams
Knowledge of cost estimation, scheduling, virtual design and construction, quality control and safety regulations related to MEP design systems primarily is preferred.
Experience in Design build/Design Assist projects in diverse markets such as Manufacturing, Data Centers, Healthcare, Infrastructure is preferred.
Ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders
Continuous improvement of mindset by staying updated on industry trends, technologies and best practices

Travel Requirements

Periodic visits to U.S. offices for integration with DPR design teams and leadership meetings.
Domestic travel within India for team engagement and operational oversight.
