n8n Developer / AI Automation Engineer
Location: Remote
Employment Type: Part-Time (with potential to transition to Full-Time)

About the Role
As our Automation Engineer, you will own and continuously improve our automation infrastructure using n8n and modern integration technologies. You'll work closely with engineering, marketing, sales, and operations teams to automate business processes, connect cloud platforms, integrate AI services, and build reliable workflows that scale.
This is not a low-code-only role—we're looking for someone who understands APIs, software engineering principles, data transformation, and automation architecture.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, deploy, and maintain production-grade n8n workflows
- Build reusable automation modules, subflows, and templates
- Integrate third-party applications using REST APIs, GraphQL, OAuth2, Webhooks, WebSockets, and SDKs
- Develop custom JavaScript/TypeScript logic using Function and Code nodes
- Implement robust error handling, retry strategies, logging, monitoring, alerting, and workflow recovery
- Build ETL pipelines to transform, validate, normalize, and synchronize data between multiple systems
- Automate CRM, marketing, recruitment, finance, customer support, and internal business operations
- Integrate AI services including OpenAI, Anthropic, Google AI, and other LLM providers where appropriate
- Optimize workflow performance, execution time, concurrency, and infrastructure costs
- Maintain secure credential management, environment configurations, RBAC, and deployment standards
- Create technical documentation, architecture diagrams, SOPs, and version-controlled workflow documentation
- Troubleshoot production issues and continuously improve automation reliability
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify automation opportunities across the organization
Required Skills & Experience
- 2+ years of hands-on experience building automation workflows using n8n (preferred), Make, Zapier, Airflow, Prefect, or similar platforms
- Strong proficiency in JavaScript and/or TypeScript
- Experience integrating complex APIs using:
- REST
- GraphQL
- OAuth2
- JWT
- Webhooks
- Pagination
- Rate limiting
- HMAC authentication
- Solid understanding of JSON data structures, schema validation, regular expressions, and data transformation
- Experience implementing retries, exponential backoff, idempotency, queues, and timeout management
- Working knowledge of Git, version control, and collaborative development workflows
- Strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written documentation and communication abilities
