Full job description

Although our current product may not show it on the surface, we are passionate about design. We are looking for a thoughtful, extremely talented designer (and design thinker) to join our tiny team and help us fundamentally shape our product.

WHO YOU ARE

You are passionate about creating user experiences that are beautifully intuitive and motivating. You think about the big picture, the brand, and most importantly, the user from concept to execution. You love working with a team on a mission and are an expert in collaborating with engineers, product, and business folks to find elegant but practical solutions to design challenges. You love creating rough prototypes to vet ideas and have maniacal attention to detail in the finished product. You're a clear and articulate communicator. You thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. You're ready to take ownership of the design of a complex, growing product. You show great empathy for your audience. You can create high-fidelity, beautiful work, but your main consideration is the overall product experience.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

You will lead interaction design, visual design, and brand for our product. This is an early-stage start-up so we all wear many hats. Your key work will be to create interactive mockups and lightweight prototypes to communicate and validate design decisions. This will involve collaboration with the small team to develop product strategy. You will also participate in the design, observation, and analysis of user research.

YOU SHOULD HAVE

A current online portfolio. Please provide a link in your application
A degree in Interaction Design, Industrial Design, Graphic Design, or similar field related to Human-Computer Interaction is desired
Minimum 3 years of experience designing and shipping web apps.

WE HOPE YOU HAVE

Front-end coding skills. HTML/CSS would be great. Javascript and deeper would blow our minds.
Mobile experience. Experience designing for iOS and/or Android would be a significant bonus.
Management experience. You'll start as our first designer, but experience growing a team and building a design culture would be icing on the cake.
