JOB DESCRIPTION – ANM NURSE

Job Summary
The ANM Nurse is responsible for providing safe, compassionate and efficient basic nursing care to patients under the direction of doctors and senior nursing staff. The nurse will assist in OPD and clinical procedures, monitor patients, administer medications as prescribed, maintain accurate records, follow infection-control practices and support the smooth functioning of PMC clinical services.
Key Responsibilities
1. Patient Care
Receive and attend to patients professionally and courteously.
Assess and record basic patient information and vital signs.
Monitor temperature, pulse, blood pressure, respiratory rate, SpO₂ and blood glucose when required.
Provide basic nursing care and assist patients with their immediate needs.
Observe patients for changes in condition and promptly inform the doctor/senior nurse.
2. Medication & Injections
Administer prescribed oral and injectable medications within the scope of training and applicable regulations.
Perform injections and other nursing procedures as instructed.
Check medication name, dose, route, timing and patient identification before administration.
Maintain proper medication records.
3. Assistance to Doctors
Assist doctors during patient examinations and clinical procedures.
Prepare instruments, equipment and supplies before procedures.
Assist with dressing, wound care, nebulization, ECG, blood glucose testing and other services as directed and within competency.
Ensure the treatment/procedure area is properly prepared after each patient.
4. Emergency Support
Provide immediate basic nursing assistance during emergencies.
Recognize and report deterioration in a patient's condition promptly.
Assist the doctor and senior nursing staff during emergency procedures.
Ensure emergency equipment and essential supplies are readily available.
5. Maternal & Child Care
Provide appropriate support for antenatal and postnatal patients within the scope of ANM practice.
Assist with maternal and child health services.
Provide basic health education regarding hygiene, nutrition, medication compliance and preventive care.
6. Infection Control & Safety
Strictly follow PMC infection-control and hygiene protocols.
Maintain hand hygiene and appropriate use of PPE.
Ensure proper cleaning, disinfection and sterilization of reusable instruments as applicable.
Dispose of biomedical waste according to established procedures.
Maintain a clean, safe and organized clinical environment.
7. Documentation
Maintain accurate nursing notes and patient records.
Record vital signs, medications, procedures and other relevant clinical information.
Maintain registers and documentation as required by PMC.
Protect patient confidentiality at all times.
8. Equipment & Supplies
Maintain nursing equipment and ensure it is ready for use.
Check availability of essential medicines, consumables and clinical supplies.
Report damaged, missing or expired items to the Nursing In-charge.
9. Patient Communication
Treat patients and relatives with dignity, courtesy and empathy.
Explain basic procedures and instructions clearly.
Maintain professional communication with doctors, nurses and other staff.
Handle patient concerns appropriately and escalate complaints when necessary.
10. General Responsibilities
Follow PMC policies, procedures and professional standards.
Maintain punctuality, discipline and professional appearance.
Attend assigned shifts and duties as scheduled.
Participate in staff meetings, training and quality-improvement activities.
Perform other nursing-related duties assigned by the Medical Officer or Nursing In-charge within the scope of practice.
Qualification
ANM (Auxiliary Nurse Midwifery) qualification from a recognized institution.
Valid nursing registration as applicable.
Relevant clinical experience preferred; freshers may be considered based on competency.

Note: All clinical duties must be performed within the nurse's qualification, training, scope of practice, applicable regulations and PMC protocols.
Pay: ₹8,063.97 - ₹13,497.03 per month
