YOUR NEW ROLE, WHAT’S INVOLVED?

As a HV Cable Principal Engineer, you will design, install, and maintain high voltage cable systems. You will lead projects, ensuring compliance with technical specifications and safety standards. Your role includes collaborating with teams, conducting site assessments, and providing technical expertise to ensure reliable and efficient HV cable networks. Senior Engineer will provide technical leadership for the successful delivery of multi discipline projects.

You will:

Extensive experience in the design, manufacture and test of HV cables for use in HVAC and
Desirable - HVDC projects both onshore and offshore; including HV cable system design and ratings (CYMCAP)
An understanding of IEC cable standards and CIGRE technical policies, its suite of technical specifications and supporting documentation, and the capability to fulfil a role as a cable expert.
Preparation, review and validation of Technical Proposal from Transmission & Distribution projects.
Preparation of technical documents/calculations using Cable Modelling Software 'CYMCAP'.
System designing experience - Selection of Bonding System, Earth Continuity Cable & Co-Axial Cable, Short circuit calculations, Cable Bonding layout.

Project Coordination:

Actively coordinates with all other internal/external team members on moderately complex projects.

Client Focus:

Responsible for assisting with identification of key client interests and drivers on moderately complex projects and may determine the key clients in some instances
Communicates client interests and drivers to project team members and develops approaches to accommodate these concerns in the performance of the work on moderately complex projects
May offer other services to the clients
Typically provides support to business development or pursuit activities

WE’D LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU IF YOU HAVE

Cable design, CYMCAP, Bonding, Short Circuit calculation, Continuous current calculation, EHV cable design, Cable routing cable system design, Cable sizing and insulation specifications, Project management, Installation, testing, and maintenance, Compliance with standards and regulations, Site surveys and assessments, Quality control checks, Team collaboration, technical problem-solving, Report preparation, Health & Safety compliance.
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent technical discipline, preferably Electrical or Power engineering with 12+ years of experience. Having UK Projects and Standards experience is added advantage.
Leading and mentoring teams, independently managing projects, delivering complex design solutions, reviewing and approving designs, and ensuring projects are completed on schedule with high quality and within budget.
Knowledge of all applicable engineering standards.
