Job Overview
About the Role:The team:
Sitting within OSTTRA's Technology and Infrastructure group, the Cloud Engineering team manages and optimizes the company-wide AWS and GCP workloads. We bridge the gap between Dev, Sec, and Ops by embedding robust DevSecOps methodologies and leveraging Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to drive infrastructure reliability, security, and velocity across the organization.
Responsibilities and impact:
We are seeking a visionary and highly skilled Cloud Engineer with a minimum of 7 years of industry experience to join our cloud engineering team at Osttra. In this senior role, you will not just manage but take absolute ownership of our cloud infrastructure, deployment automation, and system reliability strategy.
The ideal candidate treats infrastructure completely as code, possesses a masterful understanding of container orchestration, and thrives on leading initiatives independently from conception to execution. You will be responsible for scaling our enterprise AWS environment, designing next-generation container ecosystems, and driving architectural consistency using Terraform and Terragrunt, while keeping an eye toward emerging technologies and AI-driven efficiencies
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Initiative Ownership
- Lead Initiatives Independently: Take complete ownership of the DevOps roadmap, transforming high-level business goals into scalable, reliable platform architecture without requiring daily oversight.
- Architect Enterprise Infrastructure: Design, provision, and maintain secure, multi-tenant, high-availability AWS cloud infrastructure capable of supporting enterprise-scale workloads.
- Advanced Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Architect global, multi-region configurations using Terraform and Terragrunt to enforce a strict DRY (Don't Repeat Yourself) approach across complex, multi-account environments.
- Security & Governance: Define and implement enterprise-grade IAM frameworks, advanced network topologies (VPCs, Transit Gateways), and robust secrets management strategies.
Containerization, Orchestration & Multi-Cloud Direction
- Kubernetes Mastery: Own the lifecycle, long-term scaling, and performance optimization of production-grade Amazon EKS clusters.
- Hybrid/Multi-Cloud Expansion: Evaluate, design, and drive standardizations for alternative container platforms, heavily leveraging OpenShift or Google Cloud Platform (GCP) where business workflows demand hybrid or multi-cloud flexibility.
- Packaging & Scaling: Oversee complex application packaging via Helm, optimizing density and performance through advanced scheduling, autoscaling (HPA/VPA), and cluster mesh topologies.
CI/CD, GitOps & Technical Exploration
- Enterprise CI/CD Pipelines: Design and optimize secure, matrixed continuous integration and deployment workflows using GitHub Actions, ensuring native integration of automated security scanning (SAST/DAST) and compliance testing.
- GitOps Advocacy: Drive organizational adoption of GitOps practices (e.g., ArgoCD or Flux) to treat git repositories as the absolute source of truth.
- Innovation & AI Adaptation: Bring a naturally curious mindset to the team. Actively explore, evaluate, and pioneer the adaptation of AI/LLM developer tools (e.g., Gemini AI, automated IaC code generators, or AI-driven log anomaly detection) to maximize engineering velocity and optimize workflows.
Observability & Site Reliability Engineering (SRE)
- Proactive SRE Culture: Elevate our enterprise observability stacks to focus on proactive anomaly detection and business-critical SLIs/SLOs.
- Incident Post-Mortems: Guide engineering teams through high-severity incident response, leading comprehensive root-cause analyses (RCAs) that yield permanent structural remediations.
- Financial Operations (FinOps): Establish and execute sophisticated cloud cost-optimization strategies to maximize ROI without compromising performance.
What we’re looking for:
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Experience: 7+ years of dedicated experience in DevOps, Cloud Architecture, Platform Engineering, or Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) roles, with a proven track record of operating independently at a senior or staff level.
- Cloud Platform: Comprehensive, production-level mastery of Amazon Web Services (AWS) and its deep ecosystem (EC2, EKS, S3, RDS, IAM, Route53, Transit Gateway).
- Infrastructure as Code: Expert-level proficiency with Terraform and advanced hands-on experience using Terragrunt to manage complex enterprise infrastructure.
- Orchestration: Deep administration skills in Docker and Kubernetes (EKS).
- CI/CD & Scripting: Proven experience building complex automated workflows in GitHub Actions, backed by strong scripting capabilities in Python and Bash.
- Soft Skills: A natural mentor with exceptional communication skills, capable of bridging gaps between software development, security, and product teams to drastically improve the developer experience.
Preferred & Add-On Qualifications
- Enterprise Orchestration Add-on: Direct experience architecting and managing enterprise clusters using Red Hat OpenShift.
- Multi-Cloud Add-on: Production-level experience or certifications in Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Curiosity & AI Mindset: Demonstrated experience or personal curiosity exploring AI adaptation within infrastructure management, orchestration, or automated operations.
- Certifications (Highly Valued):
- Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or Certified Kubernetes Security Specialist (CKS).
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional.
- HashiCorp Certified: Terraform Authoring / Operations professional.
