Job Purpose (Job Summary): DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION: Investment & Distribution Services (IDS) provides global, end-to-end trade processing, portfolio operations, data management, and reconciliation to support Invesco’s investment activities. The group’s mission is to deliver high-quality service through disciplined operations, provide responsive support for the investment process and new products/instruments, adapt to evolving economic, regulatory, and risk environments, and ensure the delivery of high-quality data aligned with “SMART” data principles.
Within IDS, the Portfolio Services function operates on a follow-the-sun model, delivering 6x24 global support to business partners. The team serves as the first line of support, connecting stakeholders with IDS Service Delivery. It facilitates the resolution of complex, cross-region, cross-team, and cross-vendor issues. Additionally, Portfolio Services is responsible for Cash Management Services oversight and assurance, while providing value-added insights into the integrity of Investment Book of Record (IBOR) related business data.
The incumbent is expected to self-manage and independently prioritize their work, escalating issues as appropriate. Be a subject matter expert and represent the team in cross functional, global, and complex projects. Lead internal and cross functional global projects; perform research and analysis; facilitate discussions to reach consensus; coordinate responses; document outcomes; train the global team and communicate effectively at all levels within Invesco and with external vendors. Mentor and share knowledge with global team members. Lead as an escalation point and owner of critical production issues. Participate in daily production support as needed.
Key Responsibilities / Duties:
- Provide subject matter expertise, leadership, solutions, and recommendations to address complex, cross-region, cross-functional, and cross-vendor business concerns. Own critical production issues and ensure they are resolved accurately and efficiently. Act as the subject matter expert and the escalation point for production issues.
- Provide support and guidance to colleagues in day-to-day operations and production support tasks
- Liaise and build strong business relationships with key stakeholders such as Investments, Compliance, Service Providers (such as Custodians, Fund Accounting Agents, Transfer Agents, Outsourcing Vendors, etc.) and global business areas within Invesco requiring support on cash-related concerns
- Lead, facilitate, coordinate and project manage the research, analysis, implementation, documentation and training of new business requirements/projects (e.g. new instruments, new/change regulatory requirements, new systems implementation) globally across multiple IDS global functions, service providers.
- Develop & execute team plans, including business, production and organizational priorities
- Contribute to business success by setting priorities, recommending resources, and developing policies aligned with the team’s goals and objectives
- Represent IDS Portfolio Services as a subject matter expert in cross-functional and global projects
- Facilitate discussions to build consensus and agreement with a win-win focus
- Motivate a diverse group of project team members across functions and locations; foster an open and positive project environment that enables the team to deliver desired outcomes
- Establish and continually refine a global support and oversight model, while ensuring unique regional business needs are addressed
- Ensure standard operating procedures are documented and cross-trained across global team
- Perform independent research, review and analysis of financial statements, organizational structure, business model, operational risks, performances, and securities / financial statements issued by organizations, as needed
- Proactively contribute ideas, research and recommend continuous improvement opportunities (e.g. streamline / automate daily operations processes) and lead approved continuous improvement initiatives
- Mentor Analysts and Administrators across the global team by providing guidance, sharing knowledge and experience, and offering feedback to location managers on the performance of global team members with whom they interact
- Proactively identify potential operational risks, suggest mitigation strategies and lead implementation of the agreed upon mitigation strategy
Work Experience / Knowledge:
- Over all, 14+ years and a Minimum of 6-8 years industry experience in an Investment Management firm.
- Excellent knowledge of investment products globally is required
- Comprehensive understanding of internal and industry standards and principles
- Proven ability to identify and resolve complex, multi-dimensional business problems by applying broad functional and process knowledge
- Previous knowledge and work experience with business applications such as Charles River, Aladdin is required
- Must have a strong understanding of end-to-end investment services processes, including trade entry, trade processing, settlement, valuation, cash management, corporate actions processing, and fund accounting
- Experience working with third-party middle office and custody providers is preferred
- Ability to maintain a big-picture perspective, with deep knowledge of data, processes, and business flows across systems

Formal Education:
- Require a University degree in Finance or business area of concentration (or an equivalent combination of education, training, experience that would provide the knowledge, skills and ability required)
- MBA an asset
License / Registration / Certification:
- Certify Financial Analyst (CFA) or Professional accounting designation (CMA, CGA, CA, CPA) an asset
Working Conditions:
- Participate in Business Recovery testing on an as-needed basis as defined by manager
- Overtime, off hours support and travel may be required
