Mission of Role : The primary objective of this role is to effectively plan, procure, and manage the supply of all dry goods, including glass bottles, PET bottles, closures, labels, shippers, and other packaging materials, for the company's bottling facilities. The role is responsible for ensuring uninterrupted supply at the optimum cost while maintaining defined inventory levels and driving excellence in quality, compliance, sustainability, and service delivery.
Role Responsibilities
Inventory Management & Supply Planning
Ensure timely procurement of all dry goods in line with production plans to avoid stock-outs and production disruptions.
Raise Purchase Orders (POs) in SAP and ensure timely processing of procurement transactions.
Create and maintain SKU codes in SAP for new packaging materials.
Coordinate closely with Production Planning and Plant teams to align procurement with manufacturing requirements.
Maintain packaging material inventory within defined norms while optimizing working capital.
Define and monitor supplier Service Level Agreements (SLAs) related to inventory replenishment and service performance.
Drive inventory optimization projects to reduce carrying costs without impacting production continuity.
Cost & Quality Management
Manage procurement costs and drive continuous cost optimization initiatives for dry goods.
Identify and implement value engineering and packaging cost reduction projects to improve per-case cost.
Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure reliable supply and high service levels.
Resolve supplier-related issues pertaining to quality, pricing, deliveries, invoices, and payments.
Ensure supplier compliance with SEDEX requirements and drive supplier capability improvement through the Maturity Mountain framework.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement
Drive packaging innovation initiatives to improve functionality, sustainability, and cost competitiveness.
Identify opportunities for process improvements in procurement and inventory management.
Support new product development (NPD) initiatives by ensuring timely availability of packaging materials.
Coordinate with GS1 for barcode generation and related compliance activities.
Collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders including Manufacturing, Planning, Finance, Quality, Marketing, and Supply Chain teams.
Qualifications
- Postgraduate degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- Additional certification in Procurement or Supply Chain Management will be an advantage.
- 3–4 years of experience in procurement of packaging materials within the Alcoholic Beverages, FMCG, Pharmaceutical, or Automotive industries.
- Hands-on experience in sourcing packaging materials such as glass bottles, PET bottles, closures, labels, corrugated boxes, and other dry goods.
- Working knowledge of SAP and Microsoft Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
