Basic Function
Provide engineering support for the design, development, and sustainment of gas and diesel generator systems. This includes managing CAD deliverables, creating Bills of Materials (BOMs), and contributing to New Product Development (NPD) initiatives. Collaborate with domestic and international engineering teams, and interface with global stakeholders including purchasing and manufacturing to select components and define manufacturing methods. Apply domain knowledge and testing principles to ensure robust and reliable generator designs.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute detailed mechanical design of generator assemblies, modules, kits, options, and accessories.
- Apply knowledge of mechanical systems, generator architecture, and production processes to ensure robust, scalable, and cost-effective designs.
- Collaborate cross-functionally and cross-culturally to ensure alignment and quality in generator set designs.
- Apply working knowledge of SAP, CREO, CATIA, and Windchill in daily engineering activities.
- Participate in NPD meetings to understand project scope, deliverables, timelines, and budgets, and communicate relevant information to local teams.
- Support Project Engineers and Analysts in delivering high-quality designs within project timelines with Quality work.
- Demonstrate understanding of generator system architecture and testing experience to support first time right design.
Ownership Areas
- Ensure the quality and completeness of CAD designs, engineering Bills of Materials (BOMs), and Windchill deliverables.
- Provide technical and design support to Project Engineers to enhance development capabilities.
- Conduct design reviews and analysis, recommendations for improvements and optimization.
- Demonstrate accountability for both individual contributions and collaborative team deliverables.
- Mentor and guide CAD team members, fostering skill development and promoting best practices in design workflows.
- Drive efficiency improvements in design processes, tools utilization, and documentation standards.
- Foster trust and effective working relationships across business by engaging with cross-functional and global teams.
- Champion innovation and continuous improvement.
- Actively demonstrate organizational values and performance expectations.
Education & Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related discipline).
- Experience:
- Assistant Manager : 7–10 years
- Strong understanding of generator systems (gas/diesel) and testing.
- Proficiency in CAD tools ( CREO , CATIA ), PLM systems ( Windchill ), and ERP ( SAP ).
- Excellent communication skills – written, verbal, and presentation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
- Organized and effective in managing time and multiple projects.
- Customer-focused mindset with a commitment to quality and innovation.
