We are seeking a motivated Junior Messaging Engineer to support the administration and maintenance of our enterprise messaging and collaboration environment. The successful candidate will assist in monitoring, troubleshooting, and supporting Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft 365, and related messaging technologies while working closely with senior engineers and cross-functional IT teams.
This role is ideal for someone with 1–2 years of experience who is eager to develop technical expertise in enterprise messaging systems, email security, and collaboration platforms.
Due to the nature of our 24x5 operational support model, this position requires, subject to compliance with applicable laws, weekend work and participation in alternate shifts as needed to ensure adequate service coverage and meet operational requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Support the day-to-day administration and operation of Microsoft Exchange and Microsoft 365 Exchange Online.
Monitor the health and availability of messaging services and respond to alerts and incidents.
Perform mailbox administration, distribution group management, shared mailbox management, and mail flow troubleshooting.
Provide support for Microsoft Outlook and messaging-related user issues.
Participate with implementing approved changes during weekdays/weekends, security updates, and routine maintenance activities.
Open and coordinate vendor support cases and follow issues through to resolution under the guidance of senior engineers.
Monitor email security, including spam filtering, phishing protection, and Microsoft Defender for Office 365.
Maintain operational documentation, knowledge articles, and standard operating procedures.
Participate in Incident, Problem, and Change Management activities following ITIL best practices.
Collaborate with Infrastructure, Networking, Security, and Service Desk teams to resolve messaging-related issues.
Participate in team meetings, knowledge-sharing sessions, and continuous learning initiatives.
Stay current with messaging & telecommunication technologies and industry best practices.
Support on-call activities as required based on business needs and individual proficiency.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
1–2 years of experience supporting Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft 365, or enterprise messaging environments.
Basic understanding of Microsoft Exchange Server and Exchange Online administration.
Experience supporting Microsoft Outlook and troubleshooting email-related issues.
Working knowledge of Active Directory, including user accounts, security groups, and distribution lists.
Basic knowledge of PowerShell with a willingness to learn scripting and automation.
Willingness to learn telecommunication technologies.
Understanding of email protocols such as SMTP, IMAP, POP3, and TLS.
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Defender for Office 365, email security, spam filtering, and phishing protection.
Basic understanding of Windows Server, DNS, DHCP, and networking fundamentals.
Familiarity with ITIL processes is preferred.
Preferred Skills
Exposure to Microsoft Teams, SharePoint Online, and other Microsoft 365 collaboration services.
Exposure to enterprise archiving or compliance solutions such as Enterprise Vault is an advantage.
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
