About the Role
We are looking for a Sales & Operations Executive who can contribute to both business development and day-to-day transportation operations.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys speaking with clients, generating business, negotiating freight rates, sourcing vehicles, coordinating trips, and solving real-time transportation challenges.
The candidate will work closely with clients, truck owners, transporters, drivers, and the management team to ensure that transportation requirements are efficiently converted into successful trips.
Key ResponsibilitiesSales & Business Development
- Identify and develop new business opportunities in the transportation and logistics sector.
- Generate leads through cold calling, references, market research, networking, and existing contacts.
- Contact prospective clients and understand their transportation requirements.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential clients.
- Understand client requirements including routes, vehicle types, load requirements, loading schedules, and delivery timelines.
- Prepare and communicate freight quotations to clients.
- Negotiate rates and commercial terms with clients and transporters.
- Follow up consistently with prospects and convert enquiries into business.
- Identify opportunities for additional business from existing clients.
- Maintain regular communication with clients regarding upcoming transportation requirements.
- Maintain a database of leads, enquiries, quotations, clients, and business opportunities.
- Work towards achieving individual and company sales targets.
Transportation Operations
- Coordinate day-to-day transportation requirements received from clients.
- Source suitable trucks from the open market and the company's transporter network.
- Negotiate freight rates with truck owners and transporters.
- Arrange vehicle placement as per client requirements and loading schedules.
- Share loading details and necessary instructions with drivers and transporters.
- Monitor vehicles from loading point to destination.
- Maintain regular communication with drivers and truck owners throughout the trip.
- Track vehicle movement and identify delays, stoppages, route deviations, or other issues.
- Coordinate with loading and unloading locations to ensure smooth operations.
- Provide timely vehicle and shipment status updates to clients and management.
- Handle and coordinate resolution of operational issues during transit.
- Ensure timely collection of PODs and other required transport documents.
- Maintain accurate records of vehicle placement, freight rates, trip status, delivery status, and payments.
- Coordinate with the accounts and operations teams regarding advances, freight payments, and documentation.
Client & Transporter Relationship Management
- Build and maintain a strong network of reliable truck owners and transporters.
- Maintain professional relationships with clients and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Regularly communicate with clients regarding shipment status and operational updates.
- Understand client feedback and coordinate internally to resolve concerns.
- Develop long-term relationships with both customers and transport partners.
- Maintain a reliable database of transporters, truck owners, and market contacts.
Candidate Requirements
- Graduate in any discipline; Commerce/Business background preferred.
- 1–3 years of experience in sales, logistics, transportation, freight, or a related field preferred.
- Freshers can also apply if they have strong communication skills and a willingness to learn.
- Knowledge or strong interest in the Indian transportation and logistics industry.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong negotiation and convincing abilities.
- Sales-oriented mindset with the ability to generate and convert leads.
- Comfortable making calls and communicating with clients, drivers, and transporters.
- Good problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to manage multiple trips, enquiries, and conversations simultaneously.
- Basic knowledge of MS Excel, WhatsApp, email, and other office applications.
- Should be proactive, disciplined, and willing to take ownership of responsibilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment.
