Engineering Manager (Java + Cloud + Distributed Systems)

Employment Type: Full-time
Position Overview:
We are looking for a Seasoned Engineering Manager to lead multiple squads (3-4 teams) delivering scalable, high-performance software solutions. This role demands a balance between people management, technical oversight, and strategic collaboration with stakeholders. The Engineering Manager will own engineering delivery, drive technical excellence, and support career growth of the squads.
Key Responsibilities:
â€¢ Manage 3-4 cross-functional squads (developers, testers, leads) to deliver high-quality software products.
â€¢ Oversee the design and implementation of scalable solutions using Java, Spring Framework, Angular, AWS, and Kubernetes.
â€¢ Collaborate with Architects, Product Managers, and Scrum Masters to align technical delivery with business goals.
â€¢ Drive engineering best practices, coding standards, and architectural reviews across squads.
â€¢ Ensure performance, scalability, and security considerations are baked into solutions.
â€¢ Facilitate career development, coaching, and performance appraisals for squad leads and engineers.
â€¢ Act as a technical escalation point for complex problems.
â€¢ Champion DevOps practices and CI/CD improvements.
â€¢ Work closely with leadership on capacity planning, hiring, and roadmap delivery.
â€¢ Foster a high-performance culture with a focus on collaboration and innovation.
Technical Requirements:
â€¢ Strong technical background in Java, Spring Boot, Microservices, Cloud (AWS/Azure/GCP), Kubernetes (K8s).
â€¢ Proven experience managing multiple engineering teams delivering large-scale distributed systems.
â€¢ Good understanding of frontend technologies like Angular (preferred).
â€¢ Knowledge of event-driven architectures, message brokers (Kafka/RabbitMQ), and NoSQL databases.
â€¢ Hands-on experience (or oversight experience) with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud deployments.
â€¢ Familiarity with monitoring/logging tools (CloudWatch, New Relic, ELK stack).
â€¢ Proven experience designing and implementing GenAI-enabled systems, Agentic AI workflows, and driving AI-assisted SDLC (AI-DLC) practices across teams.
â€¢ Strong problem-solving, architecture, and system design skills.
â€¢ Ability to handle technical escalations and guide squads on resolving complex issues.

â€¢ Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
â€¢ Ability to handle ambiguity and drive clarity in dynamic environments.
