Core Minds Academy is not a tutoring marketplace. We are a dedicated 1:1 live learning platform trusted by over 1,100 families across 28 countries - and growing fast. We are selective. Less than 3% of applicants make it through our hiring process. The teachers who do are extraordinary - and they are compensated, supported, and respected accordingly.
The Role
You will be the sole teacher for each student assigned to you. No co-teachers, no shared classrooms, no crowded group sessions. Just you and one child, working through a personalized curriculum at their pace, in their learning style.
Your job is to produce visible, measurable improvement - in grades, confidence, and love of the subject. Parents track progress. Students see it. You own it.
Sessions are 45–50 minutes, delivered live over video with a shared interactive whiteboard. You set your schedule. Students are matched to your availability.
What You Will Actually Do
- Assess each new student in session one and design a custom learning roadmap
- Teach Math across all levels: number sense, fractions, algebra, geometry, statistics, trigonometry, pre-calculus, calculus, and beyond
- Adapt pacing, explanation style, and approach session by session based on how the student responds
- Prepare for every session — students and parents notice when a teacher has not
- Write brief progress notes after each class and a substantive weekly report for parents
- Support exam preparation where needed: AMC, MATHCOUNTS, SAT/ACT Math, GCSE, IGCSE, CBSE, ICSE, IB, A-Level
- Communicate proactively with our academic coordinator if a student is struggling or needs a plan change
The Teacher We Are Looking For
Essential:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or a directly related field
- Minimum 4 years of teaching or tutoring experience with children or teenagers
- Demonstrated ability to explain the same concept five different ways until one works
- Excellent spoken and written English
- A genuine interest in the student as a person, not just their test score
- Stable internet connection, a dedicated workspace, and a quality headset or microphone
- Availability for a minimum of 12 hours per week with scheduling flexibility across time zones
Strongly preferred:
- Experience with Singapore Math, Bar Model, or other conceptual approaches
- Familiarity with at least two national curricula (US Common Core, UK GCSE/A-Level, Indian CBSE/ICSE, Singapore MOE, IB, Australian ACARA)
- Olympiad coaching experience (AMC 8/10/12, IMO, IYMC, Kangaroo, or equivalent)
- Master's degree or PhD in Mathematics or Education
