The Route Planning & Strategy Lead is a responsible for designing, optimizing, and scaling the electric bus (e-bus) transit network. This role blends advanced spatial data analytics, battery performance constraints, and charging infrastructure strategy to build highly efficient, reliable, and sustainable public or corporate transit solutions. The Lead acts as the operational mastermind, balancing vehicle range limitation against commuter demand to maximize fleet utilization and profitability.
Core Responsibilities
Network Design & Route Optimization
· Analyse ridership demand, commuter origin-destination patterns, and geographic data to map high-yield public and corporate transit corridors.
· Simulate and model e-bus routes factoring in variable parameters like passenger payload, terrain elevation, local traffic, and seasonal weather changes.
· Optimize headways, schedules, and bus-to-route assignments to maximize vehicle kilometres travelled (VKT) and eliminate dead mileage.
Charging Strategy & Infrastructure Siting
· Synchronize e-bus schedules with charging cycles to maintain optimal State of Charge (SoC) across the fleet without disrupting service timetables.
· Perform spatial analysis to identify strategic locations for depot chargers, opportunity chargers, and en-route terminal charging hubs.
· Integrate Time-of-Use (ToU) electricity pricing and smart-charging strategies into routing algorithms to minimize utility peak-demand charges.
Strategic Planning & Tech Integration
· Lead the deployment of Intelligent Transit Management Systems (ITMS), routing software, and automated telematics tools.
· Establish technical and operational Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), tracking vehicle uptime, energy efficiency (kWh/km), and battery degradation.
· Develop financial models and commercial bids to improve the viability and bankability of public-private partnership (PPP) e-bus projects.
Stakeholder & Fleet Management
· Collaborate closely with local transport authorities, grid operators, and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) on vehicle specifications and charging deployment.
· Manage cross-functional teams of data analysts, route schedulers, and dispatchers.
Required Technical & Soft Skills
· EV Logistics Expertise: Deep understanding of battery chemistries (LFP, NCM), charging standards (CCS, flash charging), and their direct impact on fleet logistics.
· Data & GIS Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in geographic information systems (GIS), transit modelling software (e.g., PTV Visum/Optima, Remix), and big data analytics.
· Financial Acumen: Strong spreadsheet-modelling and sensitivity-analysis skills to assess life cycle costs (LCC) and total cost of ownership (TCO).
· Communication & Leadership: Proven track record of managing technical teams and presenting complex proposals to senior government or corporate stakeholders.
Qualifications & Experience
· Education: Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Transportation Planning, Urban Planning, Logistics & Supply Chain Management, Civil Engineering, or a highly quantitative field.
· Experience: 5 to 8+ years of experience in public transit networks, logistics operations, or urban mobility networks.
· EV Focus: Minimum 2+ years of direct experience focused on electric vehicle deployment, e-mobility consulting, or smart fleet operations.
Pay: ₹1,500,000.00 - ₹2,000,000.00 per year
