Job Purpose
The Second-Line Sales Manager will be responsible for driving business growth and achieving sales objectives across the assigned region by effectively leading, coaching, and developing a team of First-Line Sales Managers.
The role will own regional business performance, translate organizational strategy into actionable plans, strengthen sales-force effectiveness, develop leadership capability, and ensure consistent execution across territories in compliance with company policies and applicable healthcare/pharmaceutical regulations.
Key Responsibilities1. Regional Business & Sales Management
- Own and deliver the assigned region's monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets.
- Develop regional business plans aligned with organizational and brand objectives.
- Translate company strategy into clear territory-level execution plans through First-Line Sales Managers.
- Analyze regional sales performance, identify business gaps, and implement corrective actions.
- Drive sustainable revenue growth, market development, product penetration, and market-share improvement.
- Monitor product-wise, territory-wise, and team-wise performance and take timely strategic actions.
- Identify emerging business opportunities and develop plans to capitalize on them.
2. Leadership & Management of First-Line Managers
- Directly manage, mentor, and develop First-Line Sales Managers/Area Sales Managers.
- Set clear performance expectations, objectives, and KPIs for each FLSM.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and business reviews with FLSMs.
- Coach FLSMs on leadership, business planning, field execution, customer management, and people development.
- Develop FLSMs into effective business leaders capable of independently managing their territories.
- Identify high-potential talent and create succession and development plans.
- Address performance gaps through structured coaching and performance-improvement plans.
3. Field Force Effectiveness
- Conduct regular joint field work with FLSMs to assess territory execution and leadership effectiveness.
- Review the quality of field coaching being provided by FLSMs to their teams.
- Drive improvements in customer coverage, call quality, segmentation, targeting, frequency, and productivity.
- Ensure effective deployment and utilization of sales resources across territories.
- Monitor adoption and effective use of CRM/SFA systems and sales processes.
- Identify capability gaps and implement appropriate training and development initiatives.
4. Customer & Key Account Management
- Build and maintain strong professional relationships with key healthcare stakeholders.
- Support FLSMs in managing important doctors, hospitals, institutions, distributors, and other strategic accounts.
- Participate in key customer meetings, conferences, scientific programs, and business discussions where appropriate.
- Develop strategies for key accounts and high-value customer segments.
- Ensure the sales team delivers a high-quality and compliant customer experience.
5. Market & Competitive Intelligence
- Monitor regional market trends, competitor activities, product launches, pricing, promotions, and customer behavior.
- Convert market intelligence into actionable business strategies.
- Provide regular insights and recommendations to senior management.
- Identify potential white spaces, emerging markets, and opportunities for expansion.
- Evaluate regional business risks and develop mitigation plans.
6. Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Marketing, Medical Affairs, Training, Supply Chain, Finance, HR, and other functions to achieve business objectives.
- Provide field insights to support brand strategy, promotional planning, and customer engagement initiatives.
- Ensure alignment between marketing strategy and field execution.
- Support new product launches and strategic business initiatives across the region.
7. Compliance & Governance
- Ensure all sales activities are conducted in accordance with company policies, ethical standards, and applicable healthcare/pharmaceutical regulations.
- Ensure appropriate and responsible engagement with healthcare professionals and other stakeholders.
- Maintain high standards of business ethics, transparency, and professional conduct.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting of sales, expenses, customer activities, and business performance.
- Establish a culture of compliance and accountability across the region.

Candidate ProfileEducation
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Degree in Pharmacy, Life Sciences, Healthcare, Business Management, or a related discipline preferred.
- MBA/PGDM in Sales & Marketing will be an advantage.
Experience
- 8–12+ years of relevant experience in pharmaceutical, healthcare, medical devices, diagnostics, or a related industry.
- Significant experience in field sales and sales-team management.
- Prior experience managing First-Line Sales Managers/Area Sales Managers is strongly preferred.
- Experience managing a multi-territory or regional business is desirable.
- Experience in new product launches, strategic brands, or institutional/key-account business will be an advantage.

An effective Regional Manager should build a high-performing leadership layer, improve sales-force productivity, strengthen customer relationships, develop future leaders, and consistently translate organizational strategy into strong field execution while maintaining the highest standards of ethics and compliance.
Pay: ₹80,000.00 - ₹100,000.00 per month
