Role Overview:
We are looking for an all-rounder Finance Manager to play a pivotal role in strengthening our financial operations as we scale. The role will involve driving financial planning and analysis (FP&A), setting up bookkeeping and accounting best practices, ensuring robust compliance and governance with respect to statutory filings and supporting the founders with decision-making. The candidate will also be keenly involved in the fundraising process with support on financial modeling, due diligence coordination and compliance. The ideal candidate will bring a balance of accounting rigour and agility, helping build processes that support growth while maintaining financial discipline in a fast-evolving deep-tech environment. This is a role that will fast-track the candidate for a financial controller role in 3 years, subject to performance.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A)
- Lead end-to-end accounting operations for the India entity in compliance with local statutory requirements and policies.
- Ensure timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting to founders and investors.
- Undertake financial statement planning & preparation - ensure accuracy, completeness, and integrity of data.
- Monitor financial performance, analyze variances, and provide actionable insights to management.
2. Budgeting, Forecasting & Business Partnering
- Support the annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes.
- Track business performance against budget and support leadership with financial insights and scenario analysis.
- Partner with engineering teams to support purchase related decision-making, pricing considerations, and cost optimization.
- Support strategic initiatives and growth plans with financial modelling and analysis.
3. Treasury & Working Capital Management
- Oversee treasury operations including cash flow management, banking relationships, and liquidity planning.
- Ensure appropriate financial controls over payments, collections, and vendor management.
4.Compliance, Controls & Governance
- Ensure full compliance with Indian statutory and tax regulations (Corporate Tax, GST, TDS, PF, and other local laws).
- Strengthen and maintain internal controls in line with best practices.
- Manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory authorities.
- Support internal audits and ensure timely remediation of findings.
Qualifications & Experience
- Qualified CA (preferred) with B.Com or BBA degree
- 4-6 years of post qualification experience in accounting, FP&A, budgeting and bookkeeping roles, preferably in a startup or mid-sized organisations
- Expertise in Indian taxation, statutory compliance, treasury, and financial reporting.
- Proven track record in strengthening controls and monitoring budgets and financial models.
