Job Title: Assistant Manager – PurchaseJob Summary
We are looking for a proactive and experienced Assistant Manager – Purchase to manage procurement activities, ensure timely availability of materials, negotiate with suppliers, and optimize purchasing costs while maintaining quality and delivery standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the procurement of raw materials, components, consumables, and services.
- Identify, evaluate, and develop reliable suppliers.
- Obtain quotations, compare prices, and negotiate the best commercial terms.
- Prepare and process Purchase Requisitions (PR) and Purchase Orders (PO).
- Ensure timely delivery of materials to meet production schedules.
- Monitor supplier performance based on quality, cost, and delivery.
- Coordinate with Production, Planning, Stores, Quality, and Finance departments.
- Maintain inventory levels and avoid stock shortages or excess inventory.
- Resolve supplier issues related to quality, delivery, and payment.
- Conduct vendor audits and supplier performance evaluations.
- Maintain accurate procurement records and documentation.
- Prepare procurement reports, cost-saving analyses, and monthly MIS reports.
- Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and procedures.
- Support cost reduction and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualification
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Commerce, Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- MBA in Supply Chain or Operations is preferred.
Experience
- 5–8 years of experience in Purchase/Procurement within a manufacturing industry.
- Experience in vendor development and strategic sourcing is preferred.
Required Skills
- Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
- Knowledge of procurement processes and inventory management.
- Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar).
- Good knowledge of MS Excel and reporting.
- Ability to read technical specifications and engineering drawings (preferred for manufacturing).
- Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong planning and organizational abilities.
