Job Description: Technical Manager – Refinish (South 1)- Tamil Nadu /Andhra Pradesh/Telangana

1. Position Summary
The Technical Manager – Refinish is responsible for leading technical service, training, product support, and application excellence for automotive refinish products across the Region. The role ensures customer satisfaction through hands‑on support, drives technical capability within the distributor and bodyshop network, and supports commercial teams with deep technical expertise.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. Technical Support & Application
Provide expert on‑site technical support to key bodyshops, OEM workshops, and distributors.
Troubleshoot paint defects, application issues, colour mismatches, and process failures.
Conduct product demonstrations, trials, process audits, and product validation.
B. Training & Capability Development
Lead technical training programs for painters, bodyshop technicians, and distributor teams.
Develop SOPs, process guidelines, and training materials for refinish products (primer, basecoat, clearcoat, putty, ancillary products).
C. Product & Process Excellence
Collaborate with R&D/Global Technical teams on product tests, field trials, and VOC compliance.
Provide market feedback on product performance, competitor benchmarking, and customer needs.
Ensure correct usage of colour tools, spectrophotometers, mixing systems, and tinting processes.
D. Customer Engagement & Business Support
Support sales teams in customer conversions, product launches, and technical presentations.
Improve customer process efficiency (cycle time reduction, paint consumption optimization).
Maintain strong partnerships with OEMs, MSOs (multi-shop operators), and premium bodyshops.
3. Required Qualifications
Education
Diploma / Bachelor’s Degree in Automotive, Chemical, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
Preferably trained in automotive repainting systems or surface coatings.
Experience
8–12 years in Automotive Refinish industry (Paints/Coatings).
Hands-on experience with spray painting, colour matching, tinting, and paint booth operations.
4. Skills & Competencies
Technical Skills
Strong understanding of refinish paint systems: surface prep, application, drying, polishing.
Expertise in colour matching, spectro usage, and colour database management.
Knowledge of HS, MS, Waterborne, & Low VOC technologies.
Soft Skills
Excellent communication & training capability.
Strong problem-solving and analytical ability.
Ability to work cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, R&D, and OEM teams.
