Job Summary
Based out of our Pune (India) office, Medline is looking for a full-time Manager for its Database Operations team. The primary responsibility would be to manage the Database capability in India and will oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of Medline’s database systems, both onpremises and in Azure. He/ She would help mentor teams in the day-to-day database administration including but not limited to troubleshooting, monitoring, incident, change & problem management. He/ She will align people, processes, and technologies to the strategic objective of the organization and enable continuous advancement of the database capability.
Job Description
The role delivers a high-performance and highly available database landscape to support Medline's environment. Management oversight includes Oracle, Microsoft SQL, Azure SQL, Cosmos DB & Oracle Exadata infrastructure located in the cloud and within our datacenters. The Manager will maintain a professional team that supports the existing database environment and implement any new technologies needed for Medline's continued growth. This position will work across multiple teams to assist with projects, initiatives and resolutions of support issues that arise. A successful candidate for this position will have strong hands-on experience and background leading and delivering Database operations.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the Database Operations for Medline, providing guidance and mentorship to strengthen the capability in India
- Deliver end to end support for Medline’s Database Infrastructure, on-premises and on public cloud, ensuring high availability and performance of all Database components
- Diagnose and resolve database-related issues promptly to minimize downtime
- Identifying opportunities for improving Database availability and reliability through continuous assessments and recommending solutions
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of database configurations, standards, processes & procedures, policies and other artefacts as required from time to time
• Maintain compliance of Database infrastructure defined by Medline's security practices and policies • Ensure effective disaster recovery operations and backups.
- Set Team vision and Targets aligning to the IT Departmental priorities.
- Work with senior leadership to set S.M.A.R.T goals and track progress Manager: Database Operations
- Constantly maintaining focusing on quality outputs, right skills levels & capacity and ensuring ongoing development and growth
- Maintain operational metrics and insights to measure, track and improve performance
- Drive delivery of outcomes for key IT projects and initiatives.
- Collaborate with business sponsors and product teams to support database-related activities and ensure seamless integration with applications
- Manage vendor relationships and support contracts
Skills and Knowledge Requirements:
- 10-15 years relevant experience and 5 years management experience
- Possesses an Engineering degree, or equivalent
- Proficiency in database technologies such as Oracle, Oracle Exadata, SQL Server, Azure SQL, MySQL & Cosmos DB.
- Strong knowledge of database performance tuning, backup and recovery, and security best practices.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to work under pressure, think through problems and visualize solutions
- Superior oral and written communication skills; ability to communicate at all levels of the organization
- Proven ability to lead and act as a mentor/advisor to the team
- Demonstrates organizational skills with attention to detail, analytical and presentation skills with an ability to provide insights and operational performance metrics from time to time
- Willingness to work flexible hours and be available as needed
- Relevant accreditation in Database & cloud technologies is preferred
- Experience in multi-site healthcare organizations will be a plus
