Fire Fighting Draughtsman / Fire Protection Draughtsman

Job Summary

Responsible for preparing accurate fire-fighting and fire-protection system drawings for commercial, residential, industrial and infrastructure projects. The role involves preparing shop drawings, installation drawings, as-built drawings and coordination drawings in accordance with project requirements and applicable fire-safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare detailed fire-fighting system drawings using AutoCAD.
Prepare layouts for:
Fire hydrant systems
Sprinkler systems
Fire hose reel systems
Fire alarm systems
Fire pump rooms
Fire water tanks
Fire extinguishers
Breeching inlets and fire department connections
Prepare pipe routing, equipment layouts, sections, details and schematic drawings.
Prepare fire-fighting shop drawings and working drawings based on approved designs and specifications.
Prepare as-built drawings based on actual site installation.
Coordinate fire-fighting drawings with architectural, structural, HVAC, electrical and plumbing drawings.
Check drawings for clashes and coordinate with the project/site team for required modifications.
Prepare material take-off (MTO)/BOQ from drawings when required.
Incorporate comments received from consultants, clients and authorities.
Revise drawings according to site conditions and approved changes.
Maintain proper drawing numbering, revision control and documentation.
Coordinate with engineers, project managers, site supervisors and consultants.
Ensure drawings are issued within project deadlines.
Visit project sites when required to verify measurements and installation conditions.

Required Qualification

ITI / Diploma in Mechanical, Civil or related engineering discipline preferred.
Certificate/Diploma in AutoCAD Draughtsman is an advantage.
Knowledge of fire-fighting and fire-protection systems is preferred.

Experience

1–5 years of experience in fire-fighting/fire-protection drafting preferred.
Freshers with good AutoCAD skills and basic knowledge of fire-fighting systems may also be considered.

Technical Skills

Strong knowledge of AutoCAD 2D.
Ability to read architectural, structural and MEP drawings.
Knowledge of fire hydrant and sprinkler layouts.
Understanding of pipe sizes, valves, pumps, sprinkler heads and firefighting equipment.
Knowledge of BOQ/MTO preparation is an advantage.
Knowledge of Revit/BIM is an advantage.
Good understanding of drawing standards and revision procedures.
