SCULPTSOFT
Pre-Sales Specialist
Client Discovery -Proposal builder- Individual contributor- Software services
EXPERIENCE: 3–5 years
LOCATION: Ahmedabad, GJ.
ENGAGEMENT: In-office · Full-time (Ahmedabad)
REPORTS TO: BD Operations Manager
WORKS WITH Client & Solutions Lead
BACKGROUND: Software engineering
The role
You are SculptSoft's proposal builder. You own every proposal from brief to submission — shaping the narrative,
getting the solution right with the tech team, and making sure what reaches a client is sharp, accurate, and built to win.
This is a specialist seat, not a management one: no team to run and no delivery timelines to own (that sits with the BD
Operations Manager). Your job is simply to produce the best proposals the company puts in front of clients.
Equivalent titles you may recognize: Pre-Sales specialist, Proposal Specialist, or Solutions Writer.
01 CLIENT & REQUIREMENT UNDERSTANDING
— Understand the client before a word is written — who they are, the industry they operate in, and the problem
they're actually trying to solve, not just the one written in the brief.
— Read between the lines of a requirement. Surface what's unstated, name the underlying business goal, and pinpoint
where the real complexity lives.
— Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to drive client conversations, deliver compelling
product demos, and present solutions to both technical and business audiences.
— Treat every requirement as a business problem first and a technical spec second — the requirement-understanding
section should prove you engaged with the situation, not just catalogued features.
— Let industry context shape the framing. A healthcare client's priorities aren't a logistics client, and that difference
should show up in the risks you call out and the outcomes you emphasize.
02 SOLUTION & TECHNICAL UNDERSTANDING
— Work with on solution validation, stack recommendations, and effort estimation. Come prepared, ask the right
questions, and translate their input into the proposal accurately.
— Recommend stacks that are realistic, justified, and aligned with what SculptSoft actually delivers — not lifted from a
template or invented to impress.
— Stay current with the landscape: relevant stacks, integration patterns, delivery methodologies, industry compliance,
and what competitors are building. It should show up in the proposals, not stay theoretical.
— You don't own the technical design — the tech team does. Your job is to make that collaboration productive and
land it cleanly in the document.
03 PROPOSAL DEVELOPMENT
— Shape each proposal's structure, narrative, and solution framing alongside the Client & Solutions Lead — you're a
thinking partner in the approach.
— Own the full document once the approach is set: executive summary, requirement understanding, proposed
solution and approach, scope, technology stack, effort and timeline, commercials, relevant experience, and closing
narrative.
— Tailor every proposal to the specific client and requirement. Generic doesn't ship in this role.
— Self-review before it goes up for review — check consistency, flow, and estimates. A first draft shouldn't leave gaps
for the reviewer to fill, and feedback should land in one round, not three.
— Keep a working library of reusable sections and case-study references so you're not starting from scratch each time.
What we're looking for
— Software engineering background (required). You understand the development lifecycle, common stacks,
and estimation logic well enough to write a technically credible proposal — even though the tech team
owns the solution design.
— Hands-on proposal experience. You've built complete proposals independently in a software or IT services
context, not just contributed sections.
— A converter's instinct. You know the difference between a proposal that's merely complete and one that
actually wins — and you treat it as a commercial document, not a technical report.
— Strong written English. Clean, precise, and adaptable — a proposal for a COO reads differently from one for
a CTO, and you can flex between them.
— Current on tech and verticals. Aware of what clients in healthcare, logistics, fintech, and retail are building,
and where AI and automation genuinely fit rather than as buzzwords.
— Sensible with AI tools. You use Claude, ChatGPT, or Gemini as part of the workflow, but you apply judgment
— shallow, unedited AI output isn't acceptable, and you own the quality regardless of the tool.
Experience & background
— 3–5 years, weighted toward hands-on proposal development — not primarily project or account management.
— Software or IT services background strongly preferred; you understand how custom software proposals are
structured and what clients evaluate.
— Engineering or technology education required; a business or management qualification is a plus.
