Job Description
We are looking for an experienced SAP ABAP Technical Lead cum Manager with 14–18 years of strong SAP ABAP development and technical leadership experience. The ideal candidate should have hands-on expertise in ABAP development, SAP integrations, technical design reviews, performance optimization, and cross-functional project coordination.
The candidate will be responsible for leading technical deliverables, coordinating with multiple SAP and technology teams, and supporting projects across the complete SAP implementation lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage SAP ABAP technical development and deliverables across complex SAP programs.
- Provide strong hands-on technical expertise in ABAP development and troubleshooting.
- Review technical designs, development approaches, and development deliverables.
- Coordinate with functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into scalable technical solutions.
- Manage technical dependencies, issues, risks, and project milestones across multiple teams.
- Coordinate with SAP Basis, Integration/Middleware, Data Migration, Security/GRC, Reporting & Analytics, Testing, Cutover, Infrastructure/Cloud, and external vendors/system integrators.
- Support end-to-end project activities including design, development, testing, deployment, cutover, go-live, and hypercare.
- Troubleshoot complex technical issues and drive timely resolution.
- Ensure development quality, performance, maintainability, and adherence to SAP technical standards.
Technical Skills – Must Have
- Strong hands-on experience in SAP ABAP development.
- Expertise in Classical ABAP and Object-Oriented ABAP.
- Reports and ALV development.
- SmartForms, Adobe Forms, and SAP Scripts.
- Enhancements, User Exits, BADIs, and Enhancement Framework.
- IDocs, RFCs, BAPIs, APIs, and integration technologies.
- Interfaces and middleware integrations.
- Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and performance tuning skills.
- Experience reviewing technical designs and development deliverables.
Functional Knowledge
- Good understanding of SAP business processes across:
- SD
- MM
- FI
- CO
- PP
- Ability to collaborate effectively with functional teams and convert business requirements into technical solutions.
Project & Coordination Experience
- Strong experience coordinating with cross-functional SAP and technology teams.
- Experience managing technical deliverables and dependencies across complex SAP programs.
- Proven ability to drive issue resolution and project milestones.
- Experience working with external vendors/system integrators.
- Strong understanding of the complete SAP project lifecycle:
- Design → Development → Testing → Deployment → Cutover → Go-Live → Hypercare
Candidate Profile
- 14–18 years of overall SAP ABAP experience.
- Strong combination of hands-on ABAP expertise and technical leadership/management experience.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Comfortable working in a distributed/remote environment.
- Flexible to support US-hour overlap when required.
- Willing to travel to the office in Bangalore, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Pune, or Noida if the project requires it.
