Role Overview
As an ITI Fitter Apprentice, you will undergo on-the-job training to develop practical skills in the assembly, installation, fitting, and maintenance of mechanical components and industrial machinery. You will work closely with experienced technicians and supervisors to ensure that manufacturing equipment operates efficiently and safely, while strictly adhering to engineering blueprints and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret technical blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications to guide assembly and fitting work.
- Machine Operation: Operate traditional workshop machinery, including lathe machines, milling machines, drilling machines, and surface grinders.
- Basic Fitting Operations: Perform core fitting tasks such as sawing, filing, marking, chipping, riveting, soldering, brazing, and tapping to exact tolerances.
- Assembly & Alignment: Assemble, align, and fit mechanical components (gears, shafts, bearings, valves, and pumps) for Special Purpose Machines (SPMs) and general equipment.
- Measurement & Precision: Use precision measuring instruments (e.g., vernier calipers, micrometers, gauges) to check product dimensions and identify defects.
- Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Assist in routine preventative maintenance, machine setup, changeovers, and troubleshooting breakdowns on the production floor.
- Safety Compliance: Strictly follow workplace safety protocols, wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and maintain a clean workspace.
Qualifications & Eligibility
- Education: 10th or 12th pass with a valid ITI Certification in the Fitter trade (NCVT/SCVT approved).
- Batch: Recent pass-outs are highly preferred (e.g., passing year 2021 onwards for current apprenticeship drives).
- Registration on the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) portal is often required.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong foundational knowledge of mechanical systems and tools.
- Ability to handle heavy machinery and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Good hand-eye coordination and attention to detail for precision finishing.
- Willingness to learn, take instructions, and work collaboratively in a team environment.
Compensation & Benefits
- Stipend: Typically ranges from ₹12,000 to ₹14,500 per month (depending on the company and location).
- Certification: Upon successful completion of the 1-year training program, candidates receive an Apprenticeship Completion Certificate.
Pay: ₹12,000.00 - ₹14,500.00 per month
