Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced SAP Tax Functional Consultant to support the global design, delivery, and operation of SAP Tax capabilities across our ERP landscape. Working under the strategic and technical guidance of the Tax Tech Lead, this role is responsible for executing and supporting SAP tax processes, tax engine integrations, statutory compliance, and tax technology initiatives.
The consultant will serve as the primary functional expert for SAP Tax, partnering with Finance, Tax, Procurement, Order-to-Cash, and external vendors to deliver compliant, scalable, and efficient tax solutions. This role combines operational ownership, solution delivery, continuous improvement, and innovation, including Transfer Pricing initiatives, data automation, and AI-enabled tax determination, while aligning with the technology strategy and architectural direction established by the Tax Tech Lead.
Key Responsibilities
Global SAP Tax Process Ownership
- Own the day-to-day support and execution of global SAP Tax processes across SAP FI, MM, SD, VIM, Concur, and related finance applications.
- Lead functional support for statutory reporting, e-invoicing, Document and Reporting Compliance (DRC), Intrastat, withholding tax, deferred tax, rebate settlements, and country-specific compliance requirements.
- Configure and support SAP tax functionality across S/4HANA, ensuring alignment with global standards, enterprise architecture, and local regulatory requirements.
- Provide functional expertise for country-specific tax regimes including Brazil, Turkey, EU, Russia, India, and the United States.
- Assess SAP capabilities and provide recommendations for new tax requirements consistent with the roadmap defined by the Tax Tech Lead.
Tax Engine & System Integrations
- Manage SAP tax determination integrations with external tax engines including OneSource and related tax applications.
- Support tax determination flows including IDOCs, XML, APIs, tax exceptions, and reconciliation processes.
- Support integrations with OneSource, Deloitte Extractor, MasterSAF, Sovos, EXA, OneStream, Thomson Reuters solutions (OSR, Legal Tracker), EDWIN, and other tax applications.
- Validate tax-related master data and ensure accurate tax determination across integrated systems.
- Troubleshoot interface failures and resolve integration issues to minimize business disruption.
Transfer Pricing & Solution Delivery
- Support the implementation of SAP Transfer Pricing solutions.
- Contribute functional expertise to solution design while working within the architectural standards established by the Tax Tech Lead.
- Ensure Transfer Pricing processes align with enterprise architecture, Clean Core principles, and global documentation standards.
Data Automation & Innovation
- Develop and maintain Alteryx workflows for tax data extraction, reconciliation, statutory reporting, and compliance activities.
- Identify opportunities to improve tax operations through automation.
- Support AI-driven tax determination initiatives using structured XML e-invoice data and other emerging technologies.
- Participate in global deployment of innovative tax solutions across regions.
Solution Delivery & Continuous Improvement
- Gather and analyze business requirements and translate them into scalable SAP functional solutions.
- Prepare functional specifications, process documentation, workflows, and implementation designs.
- Support enhancements, projects, upgrades, testing, and production deployments.
- Analyze custom SAP developments and recommend improvements.
- Drive continuous process improvements aligned with the strategic roadmap for Tax technology.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Support
- Partner closely with Tax, Finance, Procurement, O2C, P2P, VIM, Concur, Enterprise Architecture, and external implementation partners.
- Act as the primary functional support resource for SAP Tax production issues.
- Provide guidance to Global Process Owners (GPOs), business users, developers, and project teams on SAP tax capabilities.
- Manage work independently while escalating architectural decisions, strategic design questions, and technology roadmap considerations to the Tax Tech Lead.
Required Qualifications
Mandatory Skills & Experience
- SAP Tax Expertise: Proven functional experience with SAP Tax module, including statutory reporting, e-invoicing, and Document and Reporting Compliance (DRC).
- SAP Modules: Hands-on experience with SAP FI, MM, SD, and related finance modules in S/4HANA or ECC environments.
- Tax Compliance Knowledge: Deep understanding of global tax compliance requirements, country-specific tax regimes (Brazil, Turkey, EU, Russia, India, United States), and statutory reporting obligations.
- Tax Engine Integration: Experience integrating SAP with external tax engines such as OneSource, Sovos, or similar tax determination platforms.
- Process Documentation: Ability to create detailed functional specifications, process workflows, and implementation documentation.
- Problem-Solving: Strong troubleshooting skills for tax-related issues, interface failures, and data reconciliation challenges.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex tax concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with SAP Transfer Pricing solutions and implementation.
- Knowledge of Alteryx or similar data automation and ETL tools.
- Familiarity with e-invoicing standards (e.g., PEPPOL, UBL, Factur-X) and compliance frameworks.
- Experience with OneSource, Deloitte Extractor, MasterSAF, or other tax compliance applications.
- Understanding of Clean Core principles and SAP S/4HANA architecture best practices.
- Exposure to AI-driven tax determination and emerging tax technology innovations.
- Experience with Concur expense management or procurement (VIM) modules.
- Project management or implementation experience in a global, multi-country environment.
- Knowledge of XML, APIs, and data integration concepts.
- SAP certification in Tax or related modules.
Education & Professional Background
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
- 5+ years of professional experience in SAP Tax functional consulting or tax operations.
- 3+ years of experience supporting SAP Tax in a global or multi-country environment.
- Prior experience as a Tax Functional Consultant, Tax Systems Analyst, or similar role in a large enterprise.

Pay: Up to ₹2,400,000.00 per year
