Role Purpose
The Warehouse Excellence Manager will be responsible for driving process excellence, standardization, productivity, and continuous improvement across warehouse operations. The role will develop and implement best-in-class warehouse processes, identify operational inefficiencies, establish standard operating procedures, and drive sustainable improvements across multiple 3PL customer sites.
The position will work closely with warehouse operations, customers, technology, quality, and commercial teams to improve operational performance while ensuring scalability, service quality, safety, and cost efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:-
1. Warehouse Process Excellence:-
Design, review, and standardize end-to-end warehouse processes across 3PL operations.
Develop and implement standardized operating procedures, work instructions, and process standards.
Conduct regular process audits and identify gaps, bottlenecks, and opportunities for improvement.
Establish best practices across receiving, put-away, storage, picking, packing, dispatch, returns, inventory, and value-added services.
Drive process harmonization across multiple warehouses and customer accounts.
Ensure processes are scalable and aligned with customer requirements and business growth.
2. Continuous Improvement:-
Lead Lean, Kaizen, Six Sigma, and other continuous-improvement initiatives within warehouse operations.
Identify root causes of operational issues using structured problem-solving methodologies.
Develop improvement plans with clear owners, timelines, and measurable outcomes.
Drive initiatives to improve productivity, throughput, space utilization, turnaround time, and operational reliability.
Establish a culture of continuous improvement across warehouse teams.
3. Productivity & Operational Performance:-
Define warehouse productivity standards and process benchmarks.
Develop manpower and productivity norms for key warehouse activities.
Analyze operational data to identify productivity gaps and improvement opportunities.
Work with operations teams to improve labor utilization, equipment utilization, and warehouse capacity.
Support productivity improvement and cost-reduction initiatives without compromising service quality.
4. Process Design & New Business Implementation:-
Support the design of warehouse processes for new customer implementations and new sites.
Develop process flows, SOPs, manpower models, capacity plans, and operational standards.
Participate in solution design and operational feasibility assessments during the sales and implementation stages.
Ensure new operations are launched with standardized and scalable processes.
Conduct post-implementation reviews and drive stabilization activities.
5. Warehouse Systems & Automation:-
Partner with IT and operations teams to improve utilization of WMS and other warehouse technologies.
Identify opportunities for automation, digitization, scanning, system controls, and process simplification.
Support implementation of technology-led process improvements.
Ensure warehouse processes are aligned with system capabilities and controls.
Identify opportunities for reducing manual transactions and process errors.
6. Quality & Process Compliance:-
Establish process compliance standards and audit mechanisms.
Conduct periodic warehouse process audits and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
Drive improvements in inventory accuracy, order accuracy, damage reduction, and service quality.
Work with quality and operations teams to eliminate recurring process deviations.
Ensure SOPs and process controls are consistently followed across sites.
7. Data & Performance Management:-
Define and monitor warehouse process KPIs and operational dashboards.
Analyze trends and identify performance deviations across warehouses.
Establish benchmarks and best-practice standards for key warehouse processes.
Use data-driven insights to prioritize improvement initiatives.
Present improvement performance and business impact to senior management.
8. Stakeholder & Customer Management:-
Work closely with warehouse operations teams to implement process improvements.
Collaborate with customers to understand operational requirements and improvement opportunities.
Support customer reviews with process-performance insights and improvement plans.
Coordinate with commercial, finance, IT, HR, quality, and engineering teams on cross-functional initiatives.
Communicate process changes effectively and ensure adoption at site level.
9. Training & Capability Building:-
Develop process-training materials and standardized operating practices.
Train warehouse teams and supervisors on new processes and improvement methodologies.
Build continuous-improvement capability among warehouse managers and frontline teams.
Develop process champions and improvement leaders within operating locations.

Required Qualifications & Experience:-
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain, Operations, or a related discipline.
5-6years of experience in warehouse operations, logistics, supply chain, operational excellence, or process improvement.
Strong experience in a 3PL / contract logistics / warehousing environment.
Proven experience in warehouse process design, SOP development, productivity improvement, and continuous improvement.
Experience working across multiple warehouses or customer accounts will be preferred.
Lean / Six Sigma certification or equivalent process-improvement experience is desirable.
Strong understanding of WMS, warehouse technology, and operational analytics.
