Hostel Supervisor – Student Accommodation & Discipline

Position: Hostel Supervisor

Number of Positions: 2
Experience: 2+ years preferred; relevant experience in hostel/residential facility management will be an advantage
Location: Guwahati, Assam
Employment Type: Full-time

Job Overview

We are looking for responsible and disciplined Hostel Supervisors to oversee the day-to-day operations of the Academy's hostel and ensure a safe, clean, organized and supportive residential environment for students.

The Hostel Supervisor will be responsible for student supervision, attendance, discipline, basic facility coordination, cleanliness and communication with management regarding hostel-related matters.

Key Responsibilities

Supervise the day-to-day operations of the hostel.
Ensure proper discipline, punctuality and adherence to hostel rules.
Maintain daily student attendance and movement records.
Monitor student entry and exit as per Academy/hostel guidelines.
Ensure students follow prescribed study, meal, sleeping and daily routines.
Maintain proper records of hostel residents, visitors and authorized movements.
Monitor cleanliness and hygiene of rooms, common areas, washrooms and other hostel facilities.
Coordinate with housekeeping, maintenance, security and other support staff.
Report maintenance, electrical, plumbing or other facility-related issues to the concerned department.
Ensure hostel facilities are properly maintained and used responsibly.
Address routine student concerns and coordinate with management when escalation is required.
Maintain a safe and respectful environment for all residents.
Monitor student behavior and report serious disciplinary issues to management.
Assist in handling emergencies and urgent situations and immediately inform the appropriate authority.
Coordinate with parents/guardians regarding routine hostel-related matters whenever authorized by management.
Ensure visitors and outsiders follow hostel entry procedures.
Maintain records of incidents, complaints, maintenance issues and other hostel activities.
Assist in coordinating meals and ensure issues related to food/service are communicated to the concerned team.
Support students with basic day-to-day requirements within the scope of the role.
Ensure compliance with all hostel safety, security and operational guidelines.
Prepare regular hostel reports for management.
Perform any other hostel-related responsibilities assigned by management.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Minimum 12th pass; graduation will be preferred.
2+ years of relevant experience preferred.
Experience in hostel, boarding school, residential facility, student accommodation, hotel, security supervision or facility management will be an advantage.
Strong sense of responsibility, discipline and accountability.
Ability to communicate respectfully with students and parents.
Good observation and problem-solving skills.
Ability to maintain accurate records and registers.
Basic computer knowledge will be an advantage.
Ability to handle routine emergencies calmly and responsibly.
Should be comfortable working according to hostel schedules and shifts, including evenings/weekends when required.

Preferred Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate should be mature, responsible, patient and disciplined, with the ability to maintain authority while also being approachable to students.

Candidates with previous experience managing student hostels, boarding facilities, residential schools, PGs, hotels or similar residential environments will be preferred.

The candidate should be capable of working independently and taking immediate action on routine hostel-related issues while keeping management informed of important matters.
