Assistant Manager - Marketing – Agriculture, Aquaculture, Animal Husbandry Business

Location: Kolkata

Maple Orgtech (India) Limited, part of the M.M. Group of Companies and headquartered in Kolkata, West Bengal, is engaged in the manufacturing and marketing of EM (Effective Microorganisms) Technology in India under an exclusive agreement with EMRO, Japan. The company has established its presence across various states through Channel Marketing, State Government Departments, NGOs, Cooperatives, Corporate and other institutional bodies.

Position Summary

The Assistant Manager - Marketing will be responsible for developing and executing the overall marketing strategy, strengthening the company's presence in the Agriculture, Aquaculture and Animal Husbandry segments, identifying new business opportunities, and driving sustainable market growth. Independently managing the brands/products and devising the competitive roadmaps for penetration and expansion in the desired segments would be a key function for the position. The candidate shall Head the marketing function to Lead, mentor and manage the marketing activities in close coordination with sales team by setting clear performance objectives, driving accountability, developing team capabilities, and ensuring achievement of organizational marketing and business growth objectives.

The role requires a strong combination of strategic marketing, product/brand management, market development, team leadership, channel management and customer relationship management, with a sound understanding of the Agriculture, Aquaculture and Animal Husbandry industry.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and implement the overall marketing strategy and annual marketing plan aligned with business objectives.
Lead and mentor the marketing and business development team to achieve organizational targets.
Identify new markets, customer segments, business opportunities and potential channels for growth.
Develop and strengthen relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Drive brand positioning, product promotion and market penetration across relevant agriculture, aquaculture and animal husbandry industries.
Conduct market research and analyze market trends, customer requirements, competitor activities and pricing dynamics.
Develop effective channel marketing and distribution strategies for improving market reach.
Plan and oversee product launches, promotional campaigns, exhibitions, customer engagement programs, seminars, demonstrations and other marketing initiatives.
Work closely with Sales, Product Development, Technical Team other internal teams to ensure effective market execution.
Monitor marketing performance, prepare MIS and provide regular reports and strategic insights to management.
Develop strategies for customer acquisition, retention and market expansion.
Manage the marketing budget and ensure optimum utilization of resources.
Provide market feedback and recommendations regarding product positioning, pricing, packaging and promotional strategies.
Build a strong and performance-oriented marketing culture within the organization.

Qualifications:

MBA / PGDM in Marketing or any equivalent qualification in Marketing – Mandatory.
Bachelor's Degree in any discipline – Mandatory.
A Graduate Degree in Agriculture / Aquaculture-related discipline will be an added advantage.
Candidates with an educational background related to Agriculture, Aquaculture will be preferred.

Experience & Competencies:

10–14 years of overall professional experience, preferably in Marketing, Business Development or Sales & Marketing.
Strong leadership and people-management experience.
Proven experience in developing and executing marketing strategies.
Strong understanding of channel management, market development and business expansion.
Good analytical, negotiation, communication and presentation skills.
Ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
Strong commercial acumen and result-oriented approach.
Ability to work independently and take strategic decisions.
Willingness to travel as required for business and market development activities.
Good to have – Experience in Agriculture/Aquaculture/Animal Husbandry industries

Key Success Areas:

Success in this role will be measured through - effective marketing strategy and execution, market expansion and penetration, channel development, brand building, team leadership, customer and stakeholder engagement, revenue and business growth, and strong market intelligence and competitive analysis.

Preferred Industry Exposure:

Candidates having experience in Agriculture & Agri-inputs, Fertilizer, Bio-fertilizer / Organic Fertilizer, Agricultural Products, Plant Nutrition, Aquaculture, Organic / Sustainable Agriculture, EM / Microbial Technology, Rural Marketing and Channel Marketing will be preferred.

Pay: ₹800,000.00 - ₹1,000,000.00 per year
