Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Program Management

Define and evolve the securities lending operating model, including agent and principal lending structures, to ensure competitiveness and scalability.

Define and execute the global securities lending strategy, aligning revenue objectives with portfolio strategy, client mandates, and market opportunities.

Oversee lending across asset classes (equities, fixed income, ETFs) and jurisdictions.

Drive strategic initiatives including new market entry, client solutions, and product innovation.
Revenue & Performance Management

Maximize lending revenue while balancing risk, liquidity, and client constraints.

Provide strategic insights to CIOs and Portfolio Managers on lending opportunities and portfolio impact.

Monitor market trends, borrower demand, collateral levels, and pricing dynamics.

Deliver transparent and insightful reporting to senior management on performance and opportunities.
Risk Management & Governance
-
Establish and maintain a strong risk framework covering counterparty exposure, collateral management, liquidity, and operational risk.

Ensure compliance with global regulatory requirements and internal policies.

Oversee stress testing, limit monitoring, and exception management processes.
Trading & Counterparty Management
-
Manage relationships with agent lenders, broker-dealers, custodians, and counterparties.

Oversee negotiation of lending agreements, collateral terms, and fee structures.

Monitor counterparty creditworthiness in conjunction with Risk teams.
Stakeholder Engagement
-
Partner closely with Portfolio Managers to align lending strategies with investment objectives, portfolio construction, and fiduciary responsibilities.

Ensure strong client alignment through transparent reporting and clear articulation of lending strategy and outcomes.

Engage with Legal, Compliance, and Risk teams on regulatory developments and policy changes.

Act as a senior point of contact for clients, auditors, and regulators as required.
Operations & Infrastructure

Oversee operational processes including trade lifecycle, collateral optimization, and settlements.

Drive automation, efficiency, and scalability of securities lending infrastructure.

Partner with technology teams to enhance reporting, analytics, and platform capabilities.
Team Leadership

Build and lead a high-performing global securities lending team, supporting global strategy and execution.

Develop talent, foster collaboration, and ensure strong succession planning.

Promote a culture of accountability, control, and continuous improvement.
Knowledge, Skills, Experience & Educational Qualification
Must-Have Skills:

Strong understanding of borrower markets, collateral management, and lending structures.

Technical & Functional Skills

Deep knowledge of securities lending mechanics, legal agreements (e.g., GMSLA), and collateral frameworks.

Strong understanding of global market regulations impacting securities lending.

Familiarity with lending platforms, data analytics tools, and market infrastructure.

Strong commercial acumen with a track record of driving revenue and optimizing performance.

Ability to influence senior stakeholders across investment, risk, and distribution functions.

Experience leading teams in a global or offshore delivery model.

Experience:

12–18 years of experience in securities lending, financing, or markets-related roles within asset management, custody, or investment banking.

Proven experience managing or overseeing global securities lending programs.
Educational Qualification:

Graduate/Postgraduate in Commerce, Accounting, or Finance. Professional certifications (e.g., CFA, CA, MBA Finance).

Advanced degree in Finance, Economics, or related field; CFA or equivalent preferred.

Experience working with global custodians and agent lenders.

Exposure to regulatory developments impacting securities lending (e.g., SFTR, Basel frameworks).
