Full job description

We are looking for an experienced Graphic Designer with strong expertise in book design, Adobe InDesign, and print production. The candidate should be capable of designing and completing books of approximately 150–250 pages, creating suitable visuals for the content, and preparing accurate print-ready files.

Key Responsibilities

Design and format educational, academic, children’s, reference, and general books using Adobe InDesign.
Independently handle complete book projects of approximately 200 pages or more.
Create page layouts based on the subject, target age group, and content requirements.
Design chapter opening pages, tables, activities, text boxes, worksheets, headers, footers, and other book elements.
Maintain consistent styles, margins, typography, spacing, grids, and page numbering throughout the book.
Create and manage InDesign master pages, paragraph styles, character styles, table styles, and object styles.
Generate or create suitable images, illustrations, diagrams, icons, and visual elements based on the book content.
Use Adobe Illustrator, CorelDRAW, Photoshop, and suitable AI image-generation tools to create content-related visuals.
Edit AI-generated or sourced images to ensure they are accurate, age-appropriate, visually consistent, and suitable for printing.
Create vector illustrations, logos, diagrams, maps, charts, icons, and educational graphics.
Perform image retouching, background removal, colour correction, compositing, and image manipulation in Adobe Photoshop.
Design brochures, catalogues, flyers, posters, packaging, book covers, and business stationery when required.
Prepare final print-ready artwork with correct page size, margins, bleeds, crop marks, image resolution, fonts, and CMYK colour profiles.
Check files for missing fonts, low-resolution images, overset text, incorrect colours, alignment issues, and printing errors.
Export press-ready PDFs using suitable PDF/X standards.
Coordinate with editors, content developers, illustrators, printers, and production teams.
Make corrections efficiently and manage multiple book projects within deadlines.
Maintain design and brand consistency across all books and promotional materials.

Required Skills and Experience

Minimum 1–2 years of professional experience in graphic design, book publishing, DTP, or print production.
Proven experience in designing and formatting books of approximately 150–250 pages or more in Adobe InDesign.
Strong proficiency in:
Adobe InDesign
Adobe Photoshop
Adobe Illustrator
CorelDRAW
Strong understanding of long-document features in Adobe InDesign, including:
Master pages
Paragraph and character styles
Automatic page numbering
Tables of contents
Cross-references
Anchored objects
Preflight and packaging
Ability to understand written content and create suitable images, illustrations, diagrams, and visual concepts for it.
Experience using AI image-generation tools is preferred.
Strong understanding of typography, page composition, layout grids, visual hierarchy, and colour combinations.
Good knowledge of prepress, offset printing, digital printing, image resolution, bleed, trimming, binding, and colour management.
Clear understanding of CMYK, RGB, spot colours, rich black, and print-safe colours.
Portfolio demonstrating book layouts, multi-page publications, educational materials, illustrations, packaging, or branding projects.
Ability to work under tight deadlines and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
Good communication and coordination skills.
Ability to read and understand English content.
Telugu and Hindi language proficiency will be an advantage.

Good to Have

Previous experience working with a book publisher, educational publisher, printing press, or prepress department.
Experience designing school textbooks, workbooks, children’s books, competitive examination books, or academic publications.
Experience handling books with tables, diagrams, activities, question papers, answer keys, and educational illustrations.
Experience in image prompting, AI illustration generation, and editing AI-generated images.
Knowledge of PDF/X-1a, PDF/X-4, font embedding, overprint, trapping, and colour separation.
Experience with large-format printing, signage, book covers, and promotional materials.
Basic knowledge of different binding methods such as perfect binding, saddle stitching, and section sewing.
