Core duties and responsibilities

Instruction and lesson planning: Develop and implement lesson plans that align with the curriculum, teach science subjects to secondary students, and use a variety of teaching methods to explain concepts.

Classroom management: Create and maintain a positive, disciplined, and inclusive learning environment.
Laboratory work: Conduct and supervise classroom and laboratory sessions, ensuring students follow safety rules.
Professional development: Stay current with scientific developments and innovative teaching methodologies, and participate in professional development programs and training sessions.
Collaboration: Work with colleagues to enhance the science curriculum and develop interdisciplinary learning experiences.
School activities: Participate in school events, extracurricular activities, and parent-teacher meetings.
Record keeping: Maintain accurate records of student performance and attendance.

Required qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Science or a related field.
Teaching degree or certification for secondary education.
Some positions may require a Master's degree or specific subject knowledge (e.g., Biology, Chemistry).
Proven experience in teaching science at the secondary level is often required.
Strong command of the subject matter and excellent communication skills are essential.
Ability to use technology and digital tools in the classroom is often desired.
