Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced professional having strong knowledge of FSSAI regulations, Ayurvedic/AYUSH requirements, Drugs & Cosmetics Rules, manufacturing processes, product development, costing, and commercial business development.
The candidate will be responsible for understanding new customer and market requirements and converting these opportunities into commercially and technically feasible products.
This is not a pure sales role. The person should be capable of discussing customer requirements with the technical, regulatory, production, purchase, quality, and management teams and taking the project from initial enquiry to product development, costing, sample development, commercial approval, and manufacturing execution.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & New Prospects
- Identify and develop new business opportunities in nutraceutical, Ayurvedic, herbal, food supplement, and related product categories.
- Understand requirements of new prospects, distributors, brand owners, institutional buyers, and private-label customers.
- Discuss product concepts, formulations, pack sizes, target pricing, regulatory category, manufacturing feasibility, and commercial quantities with customers.
- Convert customer enquiries into structured product-development projects.
- Follow up with prospects from initial discussion through sampling, commercial negotiation, and final order.
- Develop long-term relationships with existing and new customers.
- Support management in identifying new product categories and market opportunities.
FSSAI & Regulatory Understanding
Candidate should have strong practical knowledge of:
- FSSAI regulations applicable to health supplements, nutraceuticals, proprietary foods, functional foods, and related categories.
- Permitted ingredients, vitamins, minerals, botanicals, additives, and their applicable limits.
- Product labelling and packaging requirements.
- Claims and regulatory restrictions.
- Product classification under appropriate regulatory categories.
- Licensing and manufacturing-related regulatory requirements.
- Basic understanding of import/export-related product documentation where applicable.
Ayurveda / AYUSH / Drugs Rules
- Good understanding of Ayurvedic product regulatory requirements.
- Knowledge of applicable provisions under the Drugs & Cosmetics Act and Rules relating to Ayurvedic/ASU products.
- Understanding of classical and proprietary Ayurvedic medicines.
- Knowledge of formulation, labelling, licensing, documentation, and manufacturing requirements.
- Ability to coordinate with regulatory and QA teams for determining the correct regulatory route for new products.
Product Development
- Understand customer concepts and translate them into practical product-development requirements.
- Coordinate with R&D/formulation teams for development of tablets, capsules, powders, syrups, sachets, herbal formulations, nutraceuticals, extracts, and related dosage forms.
- Evaluate availability and suitability of raw materials and packaging materials.
- Coordinate sample development and customer approvals.
- Suggest alternative ingredients, strengths, dosage forms, and formulations when required.
- Ensure that products developed are commercially viable and compliant with applicable regulations.
Product Costing & Commercial Evaluation
Candidate should be comfortable preparing and evaluating:
- Raw-material costing.
- Packaging-material costing.
- Conversion/manufacturing cost.
- Testing and regulatory costs.
- Production yield and process-loss considerations.
- Batch-size impact on cost.
- Minimum order quantity.
- Final product costing.
- Customer quotation and commercial margins.
The candidate should be able to evaluate whether a new project is technically and commercially feasible before committing to the customer.
Manufacturing Management
- Coordinate with production teams regarding manufacturing feasibility of new products.
- Understand manufacturing processes and equipment requirements.
- Review batch sizes, production capacity, process flow, manpower, and manufacturing timelines.
- Coordinate production planning for new and existing customer orders.
- Identify manufacturing bottlenecks and assist in resolving them.
- Ensure that customer commitments are aligned with actual manufacturing capacity.
- Work closely with Production, QA, QC, Purchase, Stores, R&D, Regulatory, and Management.
New Product Commercialization
The candidate should manage the complete flow:
Customer Requirement → Regulatory Evaluation → Product Concept → Formulation Development
→ Raw Material Assessment → Sample Development → Costing → Customer Approval → Packaging Development → Commercial Order → Manufacturing → Dispatch
The person should act as the central coordinator for new business projects.
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 5–8 years of relevant industry experience.
- Strong exposure to nutraceutical, Ayurvedic, herbal, pharmaceutical, food supplement, or contract-manufacturing industries.
- Strong working knowledge of FSSAI regulations.
- Good understanding of Ayurveda / AYUSH / Drugs & Cosmetics regulatory requirements.
- Practical manufacturing knowledge.
- Strong understanding of product development.
- Good understanding of raw materials, packaging materials, and production costing.
- Experience in third-party manufacturing, contract manufacturing, or private-label business will be highly preferred.
- Ability to communicate with customers as well as technical teams.
- Strong commercial and negotiation skills.
- Good analytical and problem-solving ability.
- Ability to independently handle new projects from enquiry to commercialization.

Ideal Candidate Profile

Pay: ₹600,000.00 - ₹1,100,000.00 per year
