Job Title : Academic & Operations Manager

Location : Students' Placement Office (SPO), IIT Kanpur

Name of the Unit : Students' Placement Office (SPO), IIT Kanpur

Reports To : Chairperson / Vice Chairperson SPO, IIT Kanpur

About SPO

The Students' Placement Office (SPO) serves as the central platform for student career development. It facilitates placements, internships, and higher education opportunities while strengthening industry–academia engagement. The SPO supports students through structured processes and institutional partnerships.

Role Summary

The Academic & Operations Manager will facilitate coordination among academic departments and administrative units for smooth execution of placement, internship, and related student career activities.

Key Responsibilities

Coordinate with academic departments for placement and internship activities.
Facilitate scheduling and logistical arrangements for recruitment processes.
Coordinate with administrative units for venue booking and support services.
Ensure timely circulation of notices and updates.
Maintain coordination records and operational documentation.
Support smooth execution of student career development activities.

Detailed Responsibilities

Facilitating and overseeing placement, internship test, and assessment activities.
Coordinate with academic departments to plan and support placement, internship, and student career development activities.
Facilitate scheduling, approvals, and logistical arrangements for recruitment processes, interviews, assessments, and related events.
Liaise with administrative units for venue booking, IT infrastructure, security, housekeeping, and other support services.
Ensure timely circulation of official notices, schedules, guidelines, and updates to students, faculty, and recruiters.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date coordination records, operational documentation, and process trackers.
Actively monitor timelines and follow up with internal stakeholders to ensure adherence to schedules and commitments.
Identify, escalate, and resolve operational, coordination, and process-related issues to minimize disruptions.
Support compliance with institutional policies, procedures, and approval workflows.
Assist in preparing activity reports, summaries, and internal communications related to placements and internships.
Provide on-ground coordination support during placement drives, internship programs, and career development events.
Collaborate with placement, internship, outreach, and higher education teams to ensure cross-functional alignment.
Contribute to process improvement initiatives by suggesting operational efficiencies and best practices.
Support documentation and record-keeping for audits, reviews, and institutional reporting.

Desired Qualifications

Postgraduate degree in Management, Human Resources, Engineering, or a related discipline, with a minimum of 8-10 years of relevant experience in placement, logistic management, Liaise with corporates, related functions within a public or private funded educational institution. The candidate should demonstrate strong communication, coordination, and organizational skills. Prior experience in student affairs or awareness of industry trends will be considered an added advantage.

Pay: From ₹45,000.00 per month
