Job Description: Academic Counselor

Position: Academic Counselor
Department: Admissions / Student Counseling
Experience: 1–3 years
Employment Type: Full-time
Location: Saltlake Sector V

About the Role

We are looking for a motivated and student-focused Academic Counselor to guide prospective students and their parents in choosing the right academic programs and career pathways. The ideal candidate should have excellent communication and counseling skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to understand students' aspirations and recommend suitable programs.

Key Responsibilities

Counsel students and parents regarding available courses, programs, eligibility, and career opportunities.
Understand students' academic interests, goals, and career aspirations.
Provide accurate information about courses, admissions procedures, fees, scholarships, and other relevant details.
Handle inbound and outbound calls, follow-ups, and student inquiries.
Convert prospective student inquiries/leads into successful admissions.
Maintain regular follow-ups with prospective students through calls, WhatsApp, email, and other communication channels.
Conduct counseling sessions individually or in groups, both online and offline.
Maintain accurate records of student interactions, follow-ups, and admission status in the CRM.
Achieve assigned counseling and admission targets.
Coordinate with the academic, admissions, and operations teams to ensure a smooth student journey.
Stay updated on courses, industry trends, and career opportunities to provide effective guidance.
Address student/parent concerns professionally and ensure a positive counseling experience.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in any discipline; a degree in Education, Psychology, Management, or a related field is preferred.
1–3 years of experience in academic counseling, admissions, inside sales, student counseling, or a similar role.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong interpersonal and relationship-building abilities.
Good convincing, negotiation, and presentation skills.
Comfortable working with admission targets and performance metrics.
Basic proficiency in MS Office, CRM tools, and digital communication platforms.
Strong follow-up skills and a student-centric approach.
