Job Description for Senior Nurse - OT at Manipal Hospitals:
As a Senior Nurse in the Operating Theater (OT) at Manipal Hospitals, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality nursing care to patients undergoing surgical procedures. You will be responsible for assisting the surgical team, ensuring a sterile environment, and monitoring patients' vital signs throughout the process. Your expertise and leadership will contribute significantly to the smooth functioning of the operating room and the overall patient experience.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Prepare and maintain the operating room environment, ensuring cleanliness and adherence to aseptic techniques.

2. Assist surgeons and other medical staff during surgical procedures by providing necessary instruments and supplies.

3. Monitor patients' vital signs and overall condition before, during, and after surgery, reporting any changes to the surgical team promptly.

4. Manage and coordinate nursing staff in the operating room, providing guidance and support to junior nurses and trainees.

5. Participate in surgical team briefings and debriefings, contributing to improved operational efficiency and patient safety.

6. Maintain accurate and comprehensive patient records, documenting all relevant information before, during, and after surgical procedures.

7. Ensure compliance with hospital policies, protocols, and relevant regulations concerning patient care and safety.

8. Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding the surgical process and postoperative care.

Skills and Tools Required:
1. Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid nursing license.

2. Proven experience in operating room nursing, specifically within surgical settings.

3. Strong knowledge of surgical procedures, instruments, and aseptic techniques.

4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with surgical teams and provide patient education.

5. Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment while maintaining attention to detail.

6. Leadership skills to guide and mentor junior nursing staff in the operating room.

7. Proficient in using medical equipment and technology relevant to surgical procedures and patient monitoring.

8. Familiarity with electronic health record systems and other healthcare software.

9. Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred.
