About the Role

We are looking for a creative and detail-oriented 3D Artist to join our SimScene team. The role involves creating, optimizing, and maintaining high-quality 3D assets for simulation environments, digital twins, gaming, and visualization projects. Candidates with experience in modeling real-world environments, architecture, roads, vehicles, and urban assets will be preferred.

About Simforge

SimForge is a San Francisco based tech company which has a unified platform for constructing simulation-ready digital twins of urban environments and generating large-scale synthetic datasets of Physical AI edge cases for training Autonomous Vehicle, robots, humanoids, smart cities etc.

SimForge integrates two core subsystems: SimScene, which builds 3D assets and HD maps from aerial and dashcam imagery, and SimCloud, which orchestrates large-scale simulation runs and synthetic data generation across GPU clusters.

Key Responsibilities

Create high-quality 3D models, textures, and materials for simulation and visualization projects.
Develop environment assets such as buildings, roads, street furniture, vegetation, traffic signs, traffic signals, and other urban elements.
Create optimized game-ready assets while maintaining visual quality.
Generate UV maps and apply PBR (Physically Based Rendering) materials and textures.
Optimize 3D assets for real-time applications and simulation platforms.
Work with aerial imagery, reference photos, GIS data, and LiDAR-derived data to create realistic assets.
Perform asset cleanup, mesh optimization, and Level of Detail (LOD) creation.
Collaborate with mapping, simulation, and engineering teams to ensure asset quality and project requirements are met.
Follow project standards, naming conventions, and asset pipelines.
Participate in quality reviews and implement feedback efficiently.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or diploma in Animation, Multimedia, Game Art, Design, Architecture, Engineering, or a related field.
0–1 year of experience in 3D modeling, game art, visualization, or simulation projects.
Good understanding of 3D modeling principles, topology, and mesh optimization.
Knowledge of texturing, UV mapping, and material creation.
Understanding of lighting, rendering, and scene composition.
Strong attention to detail and visual quality.
Good problem-solving and spatial reasoning skills.
Ability to work independently and within a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

Proficiency in Blender, Maya, 3ds Max, or similar 3D content creation tools.
Knowledge of Unreal Engine or real-time rendering workflows.
Experience creating assets for simulation, gaming, AR/VR, or digital twin projects.
Understanding of PBR workflows, texture baking, and material optimization.
Experience creating LOD (Level of Detail) models and performance-optimized assets.
Familiarity with LiDAR, photogrammetry, or geospatial data workflows.
Experience with architectural, urban, transportation, or city-scale modeling projects.
Knowledge of asset export pipelines for Unreal Engine, Unity, or simulation platforms.
Basic scripting knowledge (Python, Blender scripting, etc.) is a plus.
