Position Description: CGI is looking for an experienced Senior Scrum Master with 8+ years of experience to work on strategic technology projects for one of the largest financial institutions in the United States. The successful candidate will work in a challenging and highly collaborative technical environment, gaining exposure to advanced tools, technologies, and enterprise technology platforms.
The Scrum Master will work closely with Agile delivery teams, Product Owners, stakeholders, and peer Scrum Masters to support Sprint and Release Planning, facilitate Agile ceremonies, remove impediments, improve team effectiveness, and drive continuous improvement.
The candidate should be self-driven, capable of working independently, and able to effectively manage multiple teams, projects, priorities, and stakeholder expectations.
Your future duties and responsibilities
Lead and facilitate Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Reviews, Retrospectives, Backlog Refinement, Release Planning, and Kanban meetings.
Manage and coordinate multiple Agile projects, including scope, timelines, dependencies, risks, and delivery commitments.
Partner closely with Product Owners to manage and prioritize product backlogs, requirements, acceptance criteria, and new requests.
Coach development teams on Scrum, Kanban, Agile principles, and best practices.
Guide teams toward increased Agile and Scrum maturity, self-organization, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Facilitate effective communication and collaboration across development, QA, architecture, DevOps, business, and other technology teams.
Act as a key point of contact for customers, business stakeholders, management, and external teams.
Identify, track, and remove technical, organizational, and cross-team impediments impacting delivery.
Proactively manage risks, issues, dependencies, and blockers and ensure timely resolution.
Facilitate conflict resolution and promote collaborative decision-making and problem-solving.
Encourage cross-training, knowledge sharing, team ownership, and collective accountability.
Monitor Agile metrics such as velocity, sprint predictability, burndown/burnup, cycle time, throughput, and defect trends.
Ensure Sprint deliverables meet agreed quality, scope, business, and compliance standards.
Drive continuous improvement through retrospectives, root-cause analysis, Agile health checks, and improvement initiatives.
Support teams in implementing process and organizational changes effectively.
Collaborate with other Scrum Masters to address enterprise-level dependencies and Agile process improvements.
Maintain transparency through Agile dashboards, Jira reports, status reports, dependency trackers, and delivery metrics.
Foster a productive environment where team members take ownership of the product, collaborate effectively, and continuously improve.
Work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining strong alignment with project and organizational objectives.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role
Must Have Skills:
8+ years of overall IT experience with significant experience as a Scrum Master.
Strong hands-on experience working with Agile/Scrum and Kanban methodologies.
Experience managing and facilitating Agile ceremonies for multiple teams/projects.
Strong experience working with Product Owners, Business Stakeholders, Development Teams, and senior management.
Proven experience in impediment removal, dependency management, risk management, and conflict resolution.
Experience with backlog management, Sprint/Release Planning, and Agile delivery metrics.
Strong communication, facilitation, leadership, and stakeholder-management skills.
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced and technically complex enterprise environment.
Experience working in financial services, banking, or other regulated environments is highly preferred.
Experience with Jira, Confluence, Agile dashboards, and reporting tools.
Scrum Master certification such as CSM, PSM, SAFe Scrum Master, or equivalent is preferred.
